R-25-01 RANGER Safety Recall

The following is an updated copy of the R-25-01 consumer e-mail issued on 3/6/2025. Vehicles affected by this recall will receive notification by mail to the address the vehicle is registered to.

Dear Polaris Owner,

As we previously communicated, Polaris has determined that on some Model Year 2023-2024 Ranger XP Kinetic vehicles, a crack may develop on a component within the vehicle's charging system, potentially allowing water to contact high voltage charging harness components. If this occurs, a short circuit may develop while the vehicle is being charged, which could result in a fire and pose a risk of severe injury. Our records show you have purchased an affected vehicle. Polaris has informed the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) about the issue.

Our records indicate that you are the owner of a RANGER affected by Safety Recall R-25-01.

We are informing you that a repair is now available. Contact your authorized Polaris dealer to schedule an appointment to have the repairs performed. Do not attempt repairs yourself. Repairs must be done only by an authorized Polaris dealer. Each vehicle will require an inspection which should take approximately 45 minutes to 1.5 hours. If repair is required, repairs should take approximately 2.5 hours for RANGER XP Kinetic Premium vehicles, and 6 hours for RANGER XP Kinetic Ultimate vehicles. When making contact with your dealer, discuss parts availability, their schedule and how long they will need to keep your vehicle.

Prior to inspection being completed on your vehicle, take the following steps to continue operating your vehicle:

  • Do not wash the vehicle, or operate/park the vehicle in rain, snow, or standing water.
  • Charge your vehicle outside. As a reminder, connect the EVSE wall plug directly into the outlet. Never use any device between this connection (e.g., extension cords, grounding adapters, multi-outlet splitters or power strips, surge protectors, timers, or smart home adapters).
  • Upon plugging in the vehicle, monitor initial charging for charging errors or abnormal noises. If a charging error occurs or abnormal noises are observed, unplug the vehicle, and do not attempt any further charging. Contact your dealer to have the vehicle inspected.

Owner Next Steps:

  • Failure to follow these instructions could result in a fire and pose a risk of severe injury.
  • Schedule an appointment with an authorized dealer. Do not attempt repairs yourself. Repairs must be done by an authorized Polaris dealer. Your local dealer can be found on our Dealer Locator webpage.
  • Visit our Product Safety Recall web page to verify if your off road vehicle is impacted by this safety recall. Search for the model or Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the site to confirm.

Click Request Service to find and be contacted by an authorized dealer who can complete the safety recall on your vehicle.

Dealership Next Steps:

  • To address this concern, Polaris has authorized your dealer to install a protective cover to the affected component within the vehicle's charging system, and replace the charging harness if necessary. This work will be performed by your dealer at no cost to you.
