On most Polaris RANGER vehicles, the battery is located under the seat. Accessing the battery requires removing the seat. Seat removal instructions can be found in your Owner’s Manual.
On RANGER CREW models, the battery can be found under the rear seat.
On RANGER XP 900, RANGER 1000 and RANGER XP 1000 models, the battery is accessed by removing the right rear-most passenger seat, as shown below, and removing the storage bin.
On model year 2016-2019 RANGER 570 Full-Size models, the battery is under the driver’s seat.
Some RANGER models feature a battery located under the hood.
The battery can be found under the hood on the following vehicles:
- Model year 2020+ RANGER 570 Full Size
- Model year 2015-2018 RANGER Diesel
- Model year 2010-2013 RANGER 6x6
- 2010-2013 RANGER 800 and RANGER CREW 800
- All model year 2005-2009 vehicles
- Series 99 RANGER
On Series 11 RANGER vehicles, the battery is located under the left rear fender.
On RANGER HIPPO models, the battery is located under the HIPPO unit, as shown below.
Note that improperly connecting or disconnecting battery cables can result in an explosion and cause serious injury or death. When removing the battery, always disconnect the negative (black) cable first. When reinstalling the battery, always connect the negative (black) cable last.
Also note that some model year 2021 and newer RANGER models feature a dedicated outlet for trickle-charging the battery during periods of extended inactivity. This outlet can be found on the dash.
