To install the Spare Tire Rack on your Polaris XPEDITION XP or ADV follow these steps:

1. Park the vehicle on a flat, level surface, ensure it is in PARK and remove the key.

2. If equipped, remove the window, turn the handles at the top of the window one-quarter turn. (Turn the handles so they point toward the rear of the vehicle.)

3. Tilt the top of the window outward to remove.

4. Lift up and set the window aside. Important: The Lock & Ride MAX latching assemblies may already be assembled to the spare tire rack. Check the torque of the latching assembly screws prior to installation of the tire rack.

5. If the latching assemblies was not installed onto the spare tire rack, begin by removing the two screws from the bottom of the latching assembly.

6. Install the latching assembly into the opening of the compatible accessory. Tighten the screws to 44 in-lbs (5 Nm). Note: Check the spring alignment and orientation while installing the latching assembly. Lock levers should be facing inward. Important: Re-torque the latching assembly screws to specification after the initial one hundred miles of use. Re-torque screws at five-hundred-mile intervals after the initial re-torque.

7. Place the rack on the side rail, inserting the bottom of the latching assemblies through the port openings in the rail. Do not clamp the assemblies at this time.

8. Use the spare tire to properly position the rack on the rail and clamp the latching assemblies. Note: Make sure that the latching assemblies are not located over port openings while clamping. Important: If vehicle is equipped with a rear glass panel, position the tire so that the glass can be fully closed without making contact with the tire.

9. Adjust the strap and attach the tire to the rack. Use the loops on the rack for upper mounting points for the straps. Use the D-rings on the floor of the bed as the lower mounting points. Important: The maximum tire size for the tire rack is thirty-one inches. Note: Straps work best when they are positioned between the tread blocks on both the top and the bottom of the tire. This will help hold the tire more securely.

10. If equipped, re-install the window by lowering the window into position and mounting the brackets on the window over the bottom of the window frame.

11. Tilt the top of the window into the window frame.

12. Turn the handles upward to lock the window into place.

13. For installation on the cross bed rail, install the crossbar in the down position, in the desired position in the bed.

14. Put the rack on the crossbar, installing the bottom of the latching assemblies through the port openings in the rail. Center the tire rack over the floor rails. Do not clamp the latching assemblies at this time.

15. Set the spare tire on the rack and mark the installation locations for the D-rings on the floor rails. The D-rings should be located under the rear edge of the tire.

16. Remove the tire from the rack.

17. Install the D-rings in the floor rails at the marked locations and loosely assemble the D-ring, wing screw, and T-nut. Install the T-nut through the port opening in the rail and move to the desired location and tighten the wing screw. Note: Make sure the D-rings point out toward the walls of the bed.

18. Clamp the latching assemblies on the crossbar and spare tire rack. Note: Make sure the latching assemblies and D-rings are not located over port openings while clamping.

19. Adjust the strap and attach the tire to the rack. Use the loops on the rack as upper mounting points for the straps. Also, use the D-rings on the floor rails as lower mounting points. Note: The maximum tire size for the rack is 31 inches. Straps work best when they are positioned between the tread blocks on both the top and the bottom of the tire. This will help hold the tire more securely. Re-torque the latching assembly screws to specification after the initial one hundred miles of use. Re-torque screws at five-hundred-mile intervals after the initial re-torque.
