The following is a copy of the Z-24-01 Consumer letter issued on 8/6/2024. Vehicles affected by this bulletin will receive notification by mail to the address the vehicle is registered to.
Dear Polaris Owner,
Polaris has determined that on some Model Year 2024-2025 RZR XP and XP 4 vehicles, the red battery terminal cover can be damaged if the seat is not correctly mounted. A damaged or an improperly seated battery terminal cover may result in an exposed positive (+) battery post. If an exposed post comes into contact with anything conductive, such as the seat base, metal seat belt components or tools, an electrical short may occur, posing a fire hazard and risk of serious injury. Our records show you have purchased an affected vehicle. Polaris has informed the Consumer Product Safety Commission about the issue.
Polaris is currently evaluating a permanent engineered solution for this concern. At the time of availability, Polaris will notify dealers and reply to you by mail (and email if available). This work will be performed by your dealer at no cost to you.
As Polaris develops a permanent engineered solution, we are providing owners with information that will allow you to keep riding, by following the included Battery Positive Terminal Cover (Red) Verification and Seat Installation Instructions.
2. If you’ve completed the enclosed verification instructions and your battery positive terminal cover (red) is undamaged, you may continue to operate your vehicle while Polaris develops a permanent repair. If you continue operating and maintaining your vehicle, continue to follow the verification instructions.
3. Please watch for a follow-up communication from Polaris regarding permanent repair details. We expect to be able to directly send the required repair solution to owners of affected vehicles in September.
OR
If you do not feel comfortable completing the enclosed verification instructions, the battery positive terminal cover and seat installation can be confirmed by your dealer at no charge to you.
Failure to follow these instructions may lead to injury.
