2024+ RZR XP Stage 1 Audio Kit Installation

This video goes over how to install the Stage 1 Audio Kit (part number 2885003). For more information, read the instructions for this kit by searching the Polaris Accessory Installation Instruction Site.

  • Shop Rags

For information on tools, read the Tools and Fasteners Guide. Always wear safety glasses and nitrile gloves when installing accessories on your Polaris RZR.

To install the Stage 1 Audio Kit in your RZR XP, follow these steps:

1. Park the vehicle on a flat, level surface, ensure the vehicle is in PARK and remove the key.

2. Remove back passenger seat and disconnect the negative battle cable. Battery location depends on two seat or four-set vehicle. Refer to your Owner's Manual.

3. Remove the two hood screws with a T40 TORX® and remove the hood by moving it rearward.

4. Gently insert a pry tool under the rear seam of the front pocket fender with a pry tool.

5. Slide the pry tool under the front pocket fender and gently lift the pry tool upward to free the front pocket fender from the clips. 

6. Remove and keep the front pocket fenders.

7. Remove the rear pocket fenders. 

8. Remove and keep four of the outer hood fasteners with a T40 TORX®.

9. Remove the outer hood from the vehicle.

10. Remove and retain the two dashboard fasteners with a T40 TORX®.

11. Pull the panel rearward to remove.

12. Remove the passenger handle by opening the lever and removing the retaining pin.

13. Remove the top retaining pin to remove the passenger handle.

14. Remove the bezel cover by pulling it outwards at each corner.

15. Disconnect the instrument cluster. Tip: Label all wires when disconnecting from bezel for ease in reinstalling.

16. Remove and keep the ignition switch retaining nut with an adjustable wrench or 26mm socket.

17. Push the ignition switch through the bezel.

18. Disconnect the 12V port on the right-hand side, if equipped.

19. Remove and keep the two top bezel fasteners with a T40 TORX® socket.

20. Remove and keep the two lower bezel fasteners with a T40 TORX® socket.

22. Open the passenger storage compartment and remove and keep the six storage compartment fasteners. Note: Both storage compartments can be removed with the upper dash by removing the front two fasteners with a 2.5mm Allen socket.

23. Open the driver storage compartment and remove and keep the six storage compartment fasteners.

24. Carefully pull the bezel away from the dashboard. Reach behind the bezel and disconnect all remaining electrical connections.

25. Remove the four bolts on the passenger side door with a T40 TORX® and set aside. Repeat on driver’s side door.

26. Remove and keep the five fasteners from the front of the upper dashboard with a T40 TORX®.

27. Remove and keep the two fasteners from the driver-side dashboard with a T40 TORX®.

28. Remove and keep the two fasteners from the passenger-side front dashboard with a T40 TORX®.

29. Remove the two upper dashboard fasteners from the vehicle with a T40 TORX® and set the panel aside

30. Open the glove box and remove the three fasteners with a T40 TORX®.

31. Remove the two fasteners from the front dashboard compartment with a T40 TORX®.

32. Disconnect the accessory power port on the left-hand side and the diagnostic port.

33. Carefully remove the dashboard from the vehicle.

34. Put the audio harness in the vehicle.

35. Install the power connector to the Polaris Pulse bar.

36. Install the fuse relay to the chassis tube.

37. Install audio harness to the vehicle with provided clips.

38. Put the head unit connector between the support brackets and install to the right-hand bracket with push-pin clip.

39. Loosely install the clamp bracket to the passenger-side speaker assembly with two fasteners with a T30 TORX®. Repeat process on driver’s side speaker.

40. Put the speaker into the installed position with clamp installed around the chassis tube. Make sure the speaker harness is not pinched between the speaker and vehicle.

41. Install the speaker harness connector to the audio harness.

42. Install the bottom of the speaker with one fastener and torque until fully seated with a 8mm socket. Tip: The glove box can be removed for improved access.

43. Tighten the clamp fasteners until fully seated.

44. Install the antenna bracket to the dashboard support brackets with two screws using a T40 TORX®. Torque to 97 in-lbs (11 Nm).

45. Install ground ring to the chassis tube with screw with a T30 TORX®.

46. Install the module and connector to chassis with attached push-darts.

47. Install the antenna connector to the audio harness.

48. To install the badge on the driver and passenger side, use two push nuts.

49. Identify “X” on the bottom of the front dashboard and drill one 1/4-inch (6 mm) hole in the center.

50. Continue to the head unit and cut at the attachment points to remove the harness blank with a utility knife.

51. Install four small U-nuts onto the head unit bracket.

52. Install one large U-nut onto the bottom of the head unit bracket. Tip: Note orientation of U-nut.

53. Install the head unit bracket to the front dashboard compartment with four screws with a T30 TORX®. Torque until fully seated.

54. Install one screw through the drilled hole and into the U-nut with a T30 TORX®. Torque screw until fully seated.

55. Put front dashboard back into the vehicle. Note: If removed, reinstall glove box.

56. Connect the charging port on the left-hand side.

57. Install the front dashboard with two fasteners.

58. Open the glove box and install three fasteners.

59. Torque all dashboard fasteners to 88 in-lbs (10 Nm).

60. Install the PMX head unit by pulling the head unit connector and antenna connector from the dashboard opening and install into the back of the head unit.

61. Install the head unit to the bracket with four screws and torque until fully seated.

62. Put the upper dashboard panel into the vehicle.

63. Install the upper dashboard with five fasteners.

64. Install the upper dashboard with two fasteners.

65. Torque the seven dashboard fasteners to 88 in-lbs (10 Nm).

66. Install the front dashboard with two fasteners on the passenger side.

67. Install the two fasteners on the driver side.

68. Put the bezel near the dashboard. Reach behind the bezel and connect all electrical connections. 

69. Install the 12V port on the right side, if equipped.

70. Push the bezel into the dashboard so that the clips engage with the dashboard. 

71. Reinsert the diagnostic plug back in place.

72. Install the bezel to the head unit bracket with two screws with a T25 TORX®. Torque until fully seated.

73. Install the ignition switch retaining nut. Torque nut until fully seated.

74. Install the bezel with two lower bezel fasteners.

75. Install the bezel with two upper fasteners.

76. Torque four bezel fasteners to 88 in-lbs (10 Nm).

77. Push the bezel cover into the dashboard panel at each corner, making sure each clip engages with the dashboard.

78. Install the six storage compartment fasteners on the passenger side and torque until fully seated. Note: If the storage compartment was initially removed with the dash, reinstall the front two fasteners.

79. Install six storage compartment fasteners on the driver’s side and torque until fully seated. Note: On driver’s side, be sure to pull the USB grommet through storage compartment.

80. Install the passenger handle with the top retaining pins. Tip: Side pin installs into top pin.

81. Align the lever with the top retaining pin and install the side retaining pin.

82. Install the center dashboard panel with two retained fasteners, and torque to 88 in-lbs (10 Nm).

83. Put the outer hood on the vehicle in the installed position.

84. Install the outer hood fasteners with four retained fasteners. Torque to 88 in-lbs (10 Nm).

85. Install the rear pocket fenders on the driver’s side with push pin rivets. Repeat on passenger side.

86. Place the front pocket fender around the ROPS bar on the driver side and into the outer hood slots. 

87. Gently push tab into clips until front pocket fender is secure.

88. Repeat this process for the passenger side.

89. Reinstall the passenger door. Repeat process on driver’s side.

90. Install the center hood from the rear of the vehicle and tighten screws. Torque to 88 in-lbs (10 Nm).

91. Reconnect the negative cable to the battery. Torque to 44 in-lbs (5 Nm).

92. Reinstall the seat by aligning the front tabs under the retainer bar and pressing down in the rear to engage the latch.
