Polaris Recalls Some Model Year 2025-2026 Ranger XP 1000 and Crew XP 1000 Vehicles
>Polaris has determined that on some Model Year 2025-2026 Ranger XP 1000 NorthStar vehicles, the alternator cable or chassis harness breakout may be improperly routed to the positive battery post. This misrouting could cause the cable to come into contact with the negative battery post and result in damage to the cable’s insulation. A damaged alternator cable or chassis harness breakout may result in an electrical short, posing a fire hazard and risk of serious injury.
Number of affected vehicles: approximately 5,600 units globally
Number of incidents: Polaris has identified 5 reports of sparking/smoke/melt and 1 report of fire. Polaris has not identified any reports of personal injury or property damage associated with this concern.
This recall affects two groups of vehicles:
Population A – Vehicles have been identified as having suspect alternator or chassis wire routing.
Population B – Vehicles may have suspect alternator or chassis wire routing.
Please refer to the VIN lookup tool to determine which group your vehicle belongs to and follow the corresponding steps.
If your vehicle falls within Population A, do not operate your vehicle until you take the following actions:
- Park and store your vehicle outside.
- Fold up the passenger seat (Crew models: rear passenger seat) and leave it in the up position. No passengers may use this seat.
- Remove the underseat storage bin.
- Customers should contact an authorized Polaris dealer to schedule the recall repair. You may continue to operate your vehicle only by following steps 1 through 3 above until the recall repair has been completed by your dealer. Do not attempt any repairs yourself.
For vehicles in Population B, do not operate your vehicle until you take the following actions:
- Park and store your vehicle outside.
- Fold up the passenger seat (Crew models: rear passenger seat) and leave it in the up position. No passengers may use this seat.
- Remove the underseat storage bin.
- Take a photo of the battery connection from above and submit your photo here. If you would like to view the video of these instructions, click here.
- Within 24 hours, a Polaris representative will contact you with next steps.
Polaris is notifying dealers and contacting registered owners directly.
