Safety Recall - 2006-2008 Outlaw ATV - Potential Loss of Control Due to Rear Sprocket Retention Bolts

Dear Polaris ATV Owner:

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Polaris Industries Inc. is voluntarily recalling all 2006- 2008 Polaris Outlaw Models with Independent Rear Suspension (IRS). Our records indicate that you are still the current registered owner of a potentially affected unit.

This letter is to notify you that Polaris has determined some Model Year 2006 and 2007 Outlaw 500 and Model Year 2007 and 2008 Outlaw 525 ATVs were manufactured with rear sprocket retention bolts that may become loose. In some instances, Polaris has found the threads in the sprocket hub were not cleaned properly prior to final assembly allowing the sprocket to loosen from the sprocket hub. If ATV operation is continued after this condition is present, it may be possible for the sprocket to become partially or fully detached from the sprocket hub. If the sprocket becomes partially detached, it is possible for the sprocket to catch the A-arm and cause a lock-up of the rear wheels, which may lead to serious personal injury to the operator.

DO NOT OPERATE YOUR ATV UNTIL THIS SAFETY BULLETIN HAS BEEN COMPLETED!

Your authorized Polaris ATV dealer has been issued Safety Bulletin ATV-08-02. This Safety Bulletin instructs your dealer to install a Sprocket Retainer Kit. Please contact an authorized Polaris ATV dealer immediately to arrange a time to have the repair performed to your ATV. This work will be performed at no charge to you.

This notice was mailed to you according to our most current registration information. While your Polaris ATV dealer is in the best posi- tion to answer your questions, if you have any questions your dealer cannot address, you may call our Customer Service Department at 1-888-704-5290.

If you need assistance contacting a Polaris ATV Dealer, please call 1-888-704-5290 or visit the Polaris web site at polaris.com.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

Sincerely,

Laurie Rengel
