Polaris Recalls Some Model Year 2024-2025 RZR XP and XP 4 1000 Vehicles
>Polaris has determined that on some Model Year 2024-2025 RZR XP and XP 4 1000 vehicles, the red battery terminal cover can be damaged if the seat is not correctly mounted. A damaged or an improperly seated battery terminal cover may result in an exposed positive (+) battery post. If an exposed post comes into contact with anything conductive, such as the seat base, metal seat belt components or tools, an electrical short may occur, posing a fire hazard and risk of serious injury.
Number of affected vehicles: approximately 25,000 units globally
Number of incidents: Polaris has identified 2 reports of fire and 1 report of melted wires. Polaris has not identified any reports of personal injury associated with this concern.
Polaris has identified a repair and will be sending every impacted customer a battery cover, with installation instructions on how to complete the repair on your vehicle. Customers who do not feel comfortable installing the battery cover on their vehicle may contact their Polaris-authorized dealer to have the repair can be completed at no cost.
To help keep customers riding safely in the meantime, we are providing information that will allow them to review their battery terminal cover. Impacted customers should follow the Battery Positive Terminal Cover (Red) Verification and Seat Installation Instructions. You can find those instructions here. Once a consumer has completed the verification instructions and has confirmed that the battery positive terminal cover (red) is undamaged, a consumer may continue to operate their vehicle prior to installation of the battery cover.
Polaris is notifying dealers and contacting registered owners directly.
Polaris has reported this matter to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
