To remove and install the radius rod on your RZR XP, follow these steps:
1. Park the vehicle on a flat, level surface and ensure it is park.
2. Remove the wheels.
- Loosen the lug nuts while the vehicle is on the ground with a 19mm socket with breaker bar, but do not remove them at this time.
- Safely elevate the vehicle. Reference your Owner’s Manual for proper lifting techniques.
- Once safely elevated, remove the lug nuts and set aside.
- Remove the wheels and set aside.
3. Remove and retain the radius rod fastener from the bearing carrier with a 18mm wrench and 18mm socket, and discard the nut.
4. Remove and retain the radius rod fastener from the vehicle frame with a 18mm wrench and 18mm socket, and discard the nut.
5. Remove the radius rod from the vehicle.
6. Examine the radius rod shafts, boots and spherical bearings for any wear or damage and replace if necessary.
7. If reusing, clean any dirt or debris using a shop rag.
8. Align the radius rod with the mounting holes on the vehicle frame and reinstall the retained inner rod fastener from the rear of the vehicle.
9. Loosely secure with a new nut.
10. Reinstall the retained bearing carrier fastener from the rear of the vehicle and loosely secure with a new nut.
11. If necessary, repeat this process for the remaining radius rod.
12. Torque the inner radius rod mounting nut to 52 ft-lbs (70 Nm).
13. Torque the outer radius rod mounting fastener to 52 ft-lbs (70 Nm).
14. If necessary, repeat this process for the remaining radius rod.
- Lower Radius Rods Inner: 52 ft-lbs (70 Nm) + 45 Degrees. The torque should be between 70 ft-lbs (95 Nm) and 118 ft-lbs (160 Nm).
- Lower Radius Rods Outer: 52 ft-lbs (70 Nm) + 90 Degrees. The torque should be between 70 ft-lbs (95 Nm) and 118 ft-lbs (160 Nm).
15. Reinstall the wheels on the vehicle, and tighten the lug nuts until fully seated.
16. Safely lower the vehicle until the tires begin to touch the ground. This will help keep the wheels in place when torquing.
17. Torque the lug nuts to 120 ft-lbs (163 Nm) in a crisscross pattern.
18. Safely lower the vehicle completely.
