HOME QUESTIONS

How much does it cost to charge my RANGER XP Kinetic?
The price of electricity varies on the market price of electricity.

What charging cords will come with the RANGER XP Kinetic?
The RANGER XP Kinetic will ship with a combined Level 1 / Level 2 charge cord (EVSE) that includes swappable cords for use with either a 120V (NEMA 5-15 outlet) or 240V (NEMA 14-50) outlet. Our partnership with Qmeritsm can be utilized to have a 240V (NEMA 14-15) outlet installed.

Can my car EV charger be used on the RANGER XP Kinetic?
Yes, most modern EV vehicles in the United States come with a built in J-1772 style plug. The RANGER XP Kinetic can be charged from automotive EV charge stations with that style plug.

What if my panel is full or I don’t have the electrical capacity to add a charger?
If your panel lacks the capacity to handle the new charging load, a Qmeritsm-certified installer can upgrade your panel to provide additional capacity. Qmeritsm can also talk to you about adding an energy management system to allow charging at times when your home is consuming the least energy (e.g., at night).

Do I need a permit?
Adding a 240-volt electrical appliance often requires a permit from your local jurisdiction. Depending on your location, permitting processes can vary widely, and costs can range from about $50 to $500. In addition to the city permit fee, that cost may include the contractor’s time in creating and presenting documentation to your local building department and inspector. To simplify the installation experience, your Qmeritsm-certified installer will handle all required permitting and inspections.

What are the benefits of a permit?
There are many reasons to pull a city permit, including:

  • Safety and protection – All electrical upgrades must be done properly to avoid electrical and fire hazard risk. Permitting provides a final inspection process to confirm your upgrade was completed safely and according to electrical code specifications.
  • Homeowner's insurance – If you ever need to file a claim involving an electrical circuit upgrade, your insurance company will likely require evidence the work was properly permitted.
  • Warranty – Our industry-leading technology platform enables your Qmeritsm-certified installer to document installation details that are helpful if your charger needs service or warranty attention in the future.

Does installation include a charging station?
When you purchase a RANGER XP Kinetic it comes with a charger — either a Level 1 charging cord or a Level 2 charging cord. If you want to upgrade the charging, you can check out the Polaris Wall Charger.
