S-23-02 Safety Recall Notice

The following is a copy of the S-23-02 Consumer Letter issued on 11/1/2023. Vehicles affected by this recall will receive notification by mail to the address the vehicle is registered to.
Dear Polaris Owner,

Polaris has determined that Model Year 2023 PATRIOT 9R MATRYX PRO RMK and PATRIOT 9R MATRYX RMK KHAOS snowmobiles can have an increased risk of primary (drive) clutch failure. The failure can cause the clutch or clutch components to be separated from the unit, posing a potential injury hazard to consumers. Our records show you have purchased an affected vehicle. Polaris has informed the Consumer Product Safety Commission about the issue.

What you should do:

Contact your authorized Polaris dealer to schedule an appointment to have the repairs performed. Do not attempt repairs yourself. Repairs must be done only by an authorized Polaris dealer. This repair should take approximately 30 minutes. When making contact with your dealer, discuss parts availability, their schedule and how long they will need to keep your vehicle.

Included in your physical copy of this letter is a sticker that is to be placed in your owner’s manual. Place this sticker at the end of the pre-season maintenance chart. This sticker is to educate and remind you of an additional maintenance step on the drive clutch that is to be completed during pre-season maintenance. Your dealer may also provide you with a copy of this information.

What your dealership will do:

To address this concern, Polaris has authorized your dealer to replace the primary (drive) clutch, install a clutch guard kit, and provide the customer with an owner’s manual addendum. This work will be performed by your dealer at no cost to you.

This notice was mailed to you according to our most current registration information. If you no longer own this vehicle, or if some of the contact information in this notice is incorrect, please contact your dealer to complete a transfer of ownership. Federal law requires that any vehicle lessor receiving this notice must forward a copy of this notice to the lessee within 10 working days after the day on which the notice is received.
