To remove and install the Front Lower A-Arm on your RZR Trail or Trail S, follow these steps:
1. Park the vehicle on a flat, level surface, ensure the vehicle is in PARK and remove the key.
2. Loosen the lug nuts with a 19mm socket with breaker bar while the vehicle is on the ground, but do not remove them at this time.
3. Safely elevate the vehicle. Reference your Owner’s Manual for proper lifting techniques.
4. Once safely elevated, remove the lug nuts and set aside.
5. Remove the wheel and set aside.
6. Remove and discard the lower ball joint pinch fastener and nut with a 15mm socket and wrench.
7. Remove the lower ball joint end from the bearing carrier. Tip: A pry bar may be used to help separate the bearing carrier from the ball joint. Use care not to damage the ball joint boot.
8. Completely remove the ball joint end from the bearing carrier.
9. Remove the lower A-arm through-bolt fasteners and washers with a 15mm socket and wrench, and discard the nuts.
10. Remove the lower A-arm from the vehicle.
11. Examine the A-arm bushing and pivot tube for wear or damage and replace if needed.
12. Inspect the ball joint for any excessive wear or damage and replace if necessary.
13. If reusing, thoroughly clean the arm and pivot tube with a shop rag.
14. If replacing, new bushings, pivot tubes and a ball joint will need to be installed.
15. Align the A-arm with the mounting holes on the chassis and reinstall the retained fasteners and washers through the front and secure with new nuts.
16. Insert the lower A-arm ball joint end into the bearing carrier. Tip: Maneuvering the bearing carrier may help align the ball joint with the carrier.
17. Reinstall the retained pinch fastener and secure with a new nut.
18. Counter hold the pinch fastener, and torque the fastener to 42 ft-lbs (57 Nm).
19. Counter hold the A-arm fasteners, and torque the fasteners to 42 ft-lbs (57 Nm).
20. Reinstall the wheel on the vehicle and tighten the lug nuts until fully seated.
21. Safely lower the vehicle until the tires begin to touch the ground. This will help keep the wheel in place when torqueing.
22. Once lowered, torque the lug nuts to specification in a crisscross pattern: steel wheels to 60 ft-lbs (81 Nm) and aluminum wheels to 120 ft-lbs (163 Nm).
23. Finally, lower the vehicle completely.
