Polaris snowmobiles equipped with digital gauges, the 7S display and the Polaris Interactive Digital Display (PIDD) feature security functions that can be activated by an authorized Polaris Dealer. With this feature activated, you can lock the ignition, preventing unauthorized use when you leave your snowmobile unattended. The locked system will limit engine speed to 3,000 RPM. This prevents clutch engagement, and the snowmobile will not move when throttle is applied.
Have the security system activated by an authorized Polaris Dealer.
The factory default security code is 0000. Change the default security code to one of your own choosing.
Pin Activated Security System for Models Equipped with 7S
The Pin Activated Security System (PASS) must be activated by your dealer using Polaris Digital Wrench. See your dealer for setup and activation. PASS allows you to safely lock and unlock your vehicle from the display powered by RIDE COMMAND.
Before beginning, ensure the snowmobile is in a well-ventilated area and turn the engine ON. To enable PASS:
1. Press the Polaris button to enter the Settings menu and select ALL SETTINGS.
2. Select VEHICLE from the left toolbar.
3. Select PASSCODE UNLOCK.
4. Select change PIN.
5. Proceed to creating a new PIN.
6. Once created, re-enter and verify your new PIN. If this is your first time activating PASS, the default code is 0-0-0-0. Please consult your dealer if you have any issues.
7. After activating PASS for the first time, turn off the snowmobile and allow the ECM to fully shut down before restarting. This may take up to 3 minutes.
8. Once the snowmobile has been restarted, open the settings menu and press the LOCK VEHICLE button to enable security.
9. The next time the snowmobile is started, a red prompt bar will appear at the top of the screen. Select this to enter your PIN.
10. Enter the PIN to operate the snowmobile. If you have forgotten your PIN, contact your dealer to unlock your snowmobile.
11. The lock function must be engaged each time before shutdown to activate the security function.
To disable P.A.S.S.:
1. Go to the SETTINGS menu by pressing the Polaris button.
2. Select VEHICLE from the left toolbar.
3. Select PASSCODE UNLOCK.
4. Enter your PIN code to disable P.A.S.S.
Security System for Current Digital Instrument Clusters
When the security system is activated the security indicator (circled above) will illuminate. Before your first time using the security system, see your authorized Polaris Dealer to have the feature activated in the electronic control unit (ECU).
To lock the system for the first time:
1. Press and hold the center button on the instrument cluster to enter the Options Menu.
2. Press and release the MODE button until SECURITY OFF appears in the Information Display Area.
3. Press and release the SET button. ENTER CODE will appear in the Information Display Area.
4. Press and release the SET button to increase the first digit. The default factory code is 000.
5. Press and hold the SET button to accept the first digit and advance to the second digit.
6. Press and release the SET button to increase the second digit.
7. Press and hold the SET button to accept the second digit and advance to the third digit.
8. Press and hold the SET button to accept the third digit and submit the code. If the code is correct, SECURITY ON will appear in the Information Display Area. The system is now locked. Proceed immediately to unlocking the system.
If the code is incorrect, BAD CODE will appear in the Information Display Area. Return to step 3 to re-enter the code.
To unlock the system:
1. While the engine is running, press and release the SET button. ENTER CO will appear in the Information Display Area.
2. Press and release the SET button to increase the first digit.
3. Press and hold the SET button to accept the first digit and advance to the second digit.
4. Press and release the SET button to increase the second digit.
5. Press and hold the SET button to accept the second digit and advance to the third digit.
6. Press and release the SET button to increase the third digit.
7. Press and hold the SET button to accept the third digit and submit the code. If the code is correct, SECURITY OFF will appear in the Information Display Area.
The system is now unlocked.
If the code is incorrect, BAD CODE will appear in the Information Display Area. Return to Step 1 to re-enter the code.
8. You now must enter a new security code.
To enter your new security code:
1. Immediately after locking and unlocking the system, and while SECURITY OFF is displayed, simultaneously press and hold the MODE and SET buttons. SET NEW CODE will appear on the Information Display Area.
2. Press and release the SET button to increase the first digit.
3. Press and hold the SET button to accept the first digit and advance to the second digit.
4. Press and release the SET button to increase the second digit.
5. Press and hold the SET button to accept the second digit and advance to the third digit.
6. Press and release the SET button to increase the third digit.
7. Press and hold the SET button to accept the third digit. CODE SET will appear in the Information Display Area and then the new code will blink three times in the Information Display Area. Your new code is now set. The system is NOT locked.
8. Record your new security code in a safe place for future reference.
If you lose your personal security code, see your Polaris Dealer to have the code reset to 000. Any time you wish to change your current security code to a new code, perform the same steps. Instead of using the factory default code of 000, use your current security code.
To lock the system with your personal security code:
1. Start the engine.
2. Press and hold the center button on the instrument cluster to enter the Options Menu.
3. Press and release the MODE button until SECURITY OFF appears in the Information Display Area.
4. Press and release the SET button. ENTER CODE will appear in the Information Display Area.
5. Press and release the SET button to increase the first digit.
6. Press and hold the SET button to accept the first digit and advance to the second digit.
7. Press and release the SET button to increase the second digit.
8. Press and hold the SET button to accept the second digit and advance to the third digit.
9. Press and hold the SET button to accept the third digit and submit the code. If the code is correct, SECURITY ON will appear in the Information Display Area. The system is now locked.
If the code is incorrect, BAD CODE will appear in the Information Display Area. Return to Step 3 to re-enter the code.
To unlock the system with your personal security code:
1. While the engine is running, press and release the SET button. ENTER CODE will appear in the Information Display Area.
2. Press and release the SET button to increase the first digit.
3. Press and hold the SET button to accept the first digit and advance to the second digit.
4. Press and release the SET button to increase the second digit.
5. Press and hold the SET button to accept the second digit and advance to the third digit.
6. Press and release the SET button to increase the third digit.
7. Press and hold the SET button to accept the third digit and submit the code. If the code is correct, SECURITY OFF will appear in the Information Display Area.
The system is now unlocked.
If the code is incorrect, BAD CODE will appear in the Information Display Area. Return to Step 1 to re-enter the code.

Security System for Models Equipped with PIDD
To lock the ignition:
1. Start the engine. Do not allow an engine to run in an enclosed area without adequate ventilation.
2. Press Key 3 on your PIDD to display the main menu options.
3. Toggle to SYSTEM SETTINGS > VEHICLE SETTINGS > LOCK.
5. Press Key 3 to select. The ENTER CODE screen will display.
6. Press Key 2 or Key 4 to enter the current three-digit security code. Press Key 5 to toggle to each digit.
7. If the code is not accepted, a BAD CODE screen will display.
8. Follow the prompts and re-enter the current security code. When the code is accepted, the "locked" symbol and ENTER CODE screen display. The ignition is now locked.
To unlock the ignition:
1. Start the engine. The locked symbol and ENTER CODE screen display. Do not allow an engine to run in an enclosed area without adequate ventilation.
2. Press Key 2 or Key 4 to enter the current three-digit security code. Press Key 5 to toggle to each digit.
3. If the code is not accepted, a BAD CODE screen will display. Follow the prompts and re-enter the current security code.
4. When the code is accepted, the "unlocked" symbol and SECURE OFF screen display. The ignition is now unlocked.
To change the security code:
1. Start the engine. Do not allow an engine to run in an enclosed area without adequate ventilation.
2. Toggle to SYSTEM SETTINGS > VEHICLE SETTINGS > CHANGE CODE.
3. Press Key 3 to select. The ENTER CODE screen will display.
4. Press Key 2 or Key 4 to enter the current three-digit security code. Press Key 5 to toggle to each digit. If this is the first time you are changing the security code, enter the default code of 000.
5. After successfully entering the current security code, the CHANGE CODE screen will display. Enter your new three-digit security code.
6. Any time you change your security code, record the new code in your PIDD Owner's Manual for future reference. Keep your security code in a secure location where others will not be able to access it.
If you forget your security code, see your authorized Polaris Dealer to have the code reset to the factory default of 000. Only authorized Polaris Dealers can reset a lost or forgotten security code.

Security System for Older Digital Instrument Clusters
When using your security system for the first time, begin by locking your system. The factory default security code is 000. To lock the system for the first time:
1. Start the engine and lock the parking brake.
2. Press and hold the MODE and SEL buttons for 3 seconds and then release. SECURE OFF should be displayed in the Rider Information Center. If not, repeat this step.
3. Wait until ENTER CODE displays and then press and release SEL to advance the digit. When "0" is displayed, press and release MODE to accept the digit. If the ENTER CODE screen exits due to inactivity, repeat Step 2.
4. Press and release SEL to advance the second digit. When "0" is displayed, press and release MODE to accept the digit.
5. Press and release SEL to advance the third digit. When "0" is displayed, press and release MODE to accept the digit.
6. After accepting the third digit, view the display screen. SECURE ON displays if the system locks. The system is now locked.
7. Unlock the system, as detailed below.
To unlock the system for the first time:
1. When the engine is running the display will alternate between SECURE ON and ENTER CODE. Wait until ENTER CODE displays and then press and release SEL to advance the digit. When "0" is displayed, press and release MODE to accept the digit.
2. Press and release SEL to advance the second digit. When "0" is displayed, press and release MODE to accept the digit.
3. Press and release SEL to advance the third digit. When "0" is displayed, press and release MODE to accept the digit.
4. After accepting the third digit, view the display screen. SECURE OFF displays if the system unlocks. The system is now unlocked.
5. You must now enter a new security code.
To enter a new security code:
1. Immediately after locking and unlocking the system, and while SECURE OFF is displayed, press and release the MODE button to bring up the ENTER CODE screen.
2. When ENTER CODE displays, use the SEL and MODE buttons to select and accept each digit of a new personal security code.
3. After accepting the third digit, view the display screen. The new code and CODE SET will display if the system accepted your new code. You will not see this display again. Your new code is now set. The system is not locked.
4. Record your new security code in a safe place for future reference.
To lock the system with your personal security code:
1. Start the engine and lock the parking brake.
2. Press and hold the MODE and SEL buttons for 3 seconds and then release. SECURE OFF should be displayed. If not, repeat this step.
3. Wait until ENTER CODE displays and then press and release SEL to advance the digit. When the first digit of your security code is displayed, press and release MODE to accept the digit. If the ENTER CODE screen exits due to inactivity, repeat Step 2.
4. Continue to use SEL and MODE to select and accept the remaining two digits of the code.
5. After accepting the third digit, view the display screen. SECURE ON displays if the system locks. Engine speed is now limited and the snowmobile cannot be driven. When the engine is running, the display will alternate between SECURE ON and ENTER CODE.
6. If BAD CODE displays, the screen will then return to the ENTER CODE screen. Repeat Steps 3-5 to re-enter the security code.
To unlock the security system with your personal security code:
1. When the engine is running, the display will alternate between SECURE ON and ENTER CODE. Wait until ENTER CODE displays and then press and release SEL to advance the digit. When the first digit of your security code is displayed, press and release MODE to accept the digit. When the system is locked and engine temperature is above 120 degrees Fahrenheit (49 C), the correct password must be entered within 60 seconds or the engine will shut down.
2. Continue to use SEL and MODE to select and accept the remaining two digits of the code.
3. After accepting the third digit, view the display screen. SECURE OFF displays if the system unlocks.
4. Re-enter your code if BAD CODE displays. The system is now unlocked.
Any time you wish to change your current security code to a new code, perform the same steps. Instead of using the factory default code of 000, use your current security code.

The MODE button is found on the instrument cluster, as shown in the above illustration, or on the handlebar, as shown below. The SET button can be found on the handlebar, as shown below.
