Position Title: Senior Supplier Quality Engineer

Position Description: Perform proactive Quality Assurance responsibilities and support supplier development actions for all purchased components, systems, and whole goods that contribute to successful product launches and support existing production quality requirements. Ensure quality of supplied safety critical components, using experience and quality engineering principles. Develop strategy and tools for Polaris’ supplier quality system and supply chain management improvement with a focus on standard work. Drive Lean principles and practices with recognized impact with regards to subject matter expertise in both the Polaris’ supplier quality systems and the supply chain. Drive best practices and provide direction on the strategy development and implementation for assigned categories in alignment with the broader supply chain strategy. Conduct Supplier Training, Quality Audits, Process Audits, and Improvement Events. Execute Root Cause Problem Solving and Corrective/Preventative Action (CAPA). Collaborate with Suppliers and Polaris Engineering during design reviews to ensure Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA). Manage multiple Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP) projects for critical launches and assess supplier production readiness via the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Pulse Ordering Process & Run-at-Rate. Perform Quality System Audits on suppliers and make recommendations for suitability to Polaris requirements and development needs. The position does not have any direct reports. The position is based in Wyoming, MN, but requires domestic and/or international travel up to 20% and this position entails management of the quality of components provided by suppliers that requires supplier collaboration and audits.

Position Qualifications: This position requires a bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or other related engineering field, and 5 years of work experience in manufacturing or quality engineering. Additionally, a qualified applicant’s experience must include the following: (1) Using quality related tools to execute production readiness and verify compliance to standards, as well as maintain expected product quality performance, including: QMS, SPC, APQP, 8D, PPAP, CAPA, and Quality Systems; (2) Evaluating Suppliers with Quality System/Manufacturing Process Audits, including ISO 9001/TS 16949 standards; (3) Using quality improvement tools, including Lean, Six Sigma, to improve Supplier processes and product quality; (4) Using statistical analysis software, such as Minitab, to perform problem solving and root cause identification; (5) Reviewing technical documentation related to safety critical components and communicating both verbally and in written form; (6) Developing and leading cross-functional teams to resolve Supplier-related quality issues in a diverse global supply base; (7) Investigating and resolving quality issues with all levels of internal and external employees and reporting findings to top executives; and (8) Training suppliers on quality principles and corporate procedures to drive quality excellence from suppliers. Special Requirement: Mandatory drug testing and background checks.
