Development Engineer for Snowmobile Engineering. Whole vehicle development with an emphasis on chassis architecture, ergonomics, and overall vehicle performance. This position will work to ensure that the final product package is optimized to exceed the customer's expectations in the following areas: safety, performance, quality, handling, and comfort.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ride and evaluate vehicles through all phases of product development with the ability to adjust and tune suspension to optimize vehicle handling and performance.
Work with key suspension component vendors (shocks, springs, etc.) to to refine ride and handling.
Mechatronics background is highly desired – the ability to control integrated mechanical and electrical systems.
Assist in the fabrication and assembly of concept and development vehicle builds, providing input and direction to achieve KPC targets.
Ability to do basic and/or advanced instrumentation for data acquisition.
Analyze and process data collected to draw conclusions and report back to engineering team with recommendations.
Provide input on whole vehicle layout, system, and sub-system packaging as well as ergonomics and rider positioning.
Work with system engineers to support calibration and development tests.
Organize and lead development activity in the field – create and execute trip plans and report results back.
Work with validation engineers to perform and/or support items from the validation plan (DVP&R).
Perform lab and field testing and work to develop solutions as required to resolve product issues.
Support preproduction builds and oversee Pilot build activity.
Keep good records and write test reports for tests conducted.
Maintain strict confidentiality.
Good self-starter, willing to work overtime as needed.
Must be willing to travel periodically to do product evaluation and development.
Able to communicate professionally and drive project to timely completion.
Perform other miscellaneous duties as required.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
B.S in Mechanical Engineering or related
Hands-on knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems and problem-solving
Experience with data collection and data processing
Valid driver's license required
Must be capable of operating Snowmobiles in extreme conditions
Basic computer skills required
Must be capable of driving trucks with trailers (>26,000 GCVR) and obtain Class A license certification
Must be capable of operating forklifts
Power sports experience preferred
Ability to travel to Canada and internationally as required
