Polaris Donates $200K to the Salvation Army for Hurricane Harvey Relief
>Minneapolis, MN (August 31, 2017) – Minnesota-based Polaris Industries is donating $200,000 to help support The Salvation Army's disaster relief efforts following Hurricane Harvey. The company is also matching donations from their employees dollar for dollar, from Sept. 1- Sept. 15.
Polaris previously donated a $1.36 million Rescue and Relief Fleet of off-road vehicles to The Salvation Army for use after disasters (see related story). About half of those vehicles are already on the ground in Texas and Louisiana, with the rest on the way.
"Polaris is proud to support The Salvation Army's hurricane relief efforts in the Gulf Coast region. During times of disaster we are committed to being part of the solution, and as part of our long-standing relationship with The Salvation Army, the Polaris Rescue and Relief Fleet of vehicles is available to assist emergency disaster relief personnel. Additionally, Polaris employees are generously supporting the relief efforts, so we have also decided to match their contributions dollar for dollar,” said Scott W. Wine, Chairman and CEO of Polaris Industries Inc.
The Salvation Army currently has hundreds of staff and volunteers on the ground in Texas and Louisiana, along with 71 mobile kitchens serving thousands of meals a day, in addition to providing shelter, mobile showers and countless hours of spiritual and emotional care.
"With the relief effort from this disaster expected to go on for months if not years, these generous donations from Polaris Industries will help us serve even more people who are suffering, both now and as they begin to rebuild their lives,” said Lt. Col. Lonneal Richardson, leader of The Salvation Army Northern Division. " The Salvation Army is so grateful for this on-going partnership with Polaris."
