2025 650 TITAN Adventure Battery Removal and Installation

Required Tools and Supplies

  • 10mm Socket
  • T20 TORX® Socket
  • T40 TORX® Socket
  • Ratchet
  • Torque Wrench
  • Dielectric Grease or Petroleum Jelly
  • Eye Protection
  • Nitrile Gloves
  • Shop Rags

To remove and install the battery on your 650 TITAN Adventure, follow these steps:

1. Park the snowmobile on a flat level surface, set the parking brake and remove the key.

2. Begin by disconnecting the accessory connector.

3. Remove the passenger seat by releasing the two levers.

4. Remove the driver’s seat by turning the quarter-turn latch.

5. Remove the rear tank trim screws with a T40 TORX® Socket.

6. Remove the battery box cover screw with a T20 TORX® Socket.

7. Disconnect the accessory wire harness from the retainer or, if equipped with an accessory, disconnect the accessory wire harness from the accessory.

8. Remove the battery box cover.

9. Disconnect the negative battery cable first with a 10mm socket to prevent arcing and set aside. Tip: Reinstalling the fasteners and washers into the battery posts will help prevent misplacement.

10. Remove the positive battery cable and set aside. 

11. Remove the battery from the vehicle.

12. Inspect the pad on the battery bracket for wear or damage and replace, if necessary.

13. If reinstalling the battery, ensure it is fully charged and free of any debris or damage. Follow the instructions in the Battery Charging section of your Owner's Manual before installing the battery. If replacing the battery, the battery it is part number 4014609

14. Carefully reinstall the battery into the snowmobile.

15. Reinstall the positive cable and torque to 62 in-lbs (7 Nm).

16. Connect the negative cable and torque to 62 in-lbs (7 Nm). 

17. Before continuing, apply a light film of dielectric grease or petroleum jelly to both terminals.

18. Also verify the cables are secure and properly routed.

19. Put the battery box cover in the vehicle. Make sure the tabs are hooked into the battery box, and make sure the battery box cover is under the rear tank trim.

20. Connect the accessory wire harness to the retainer or, if equipped with an accessory, connect the accessory wire to the accessory.

21. Install the battery box cover screw and torque to 13 in-lbs (1.5 Nm).

22. Install the rear tank trim screws and torque to 35.4 in-lbs (4 Nm).

23. Reinstall the driver seat by lining up the tabs to the seat and lock the quarter-turn latch.

24. Reinstall the passenger seat lining up the tabs and pushing down on the rear levers to secure the seat. Ensure the seat is fully seated.

25. Start the snowmobile to verify the battery has been connected properly. Note: When the battery is disconnected, the vehicle’s clock may need to be reset.
