To remove and install the battery on your Sportsman X2, Touring and 6x6 570, follow these steps:

1. Park the vehicle on a flat, level surface and ensure the vehicle is in park.

2. Set the parking brake, turn the key to the OFF position and remove.

3. Unlatch the front rack latches and open the front rack.

4. Remove the two battery hold down strap screws with a T40 TORX® socket and remove from the strap from the vehicle.

5. Disconnect the black (negative) battery cable fastener with a 10mm socket and wrench first to prevent arcing and set the cable aside.

6. Disconnect the red (positive) cable fastener with a 10mm socket and wrench and set the cable aside.

7. Carefully lift the battery out of the vehicle.

8. If reinstalling the battery, ensure it is fully charged and free of any debris to prevent damage. Clean the battery cables and terminals with a stiff wire brush. Corrosion can be removed using a solution of one cup water and one tablespoon baking soda. Rinse well with clean water and dry thoroughly.

9. Clean any dirt or debris from battery tray and reinstall the battery. A new battery is part number 4017419.

10. Connect the positive cable first to prevent arcing and torque to 62 in-lbs (7 Nm).

11. Reinstall the positive cable boot.

12. Connect the negative cable and torque to 62 in-lbs (7 Nm). Note: Apply dielectric grease or petroleum jelly to the terminals before reinstalling

13. Verify the cables are secure and properly routed.

14. Reinstall the battery bracket with fasteners and torque to 24 in-lbs (3 Nm).

15. Turn the key on to verify the battery is properly connected. Note: When the battery is disconnected, the vehicle’s clock may need to be reset.
