Job Summary

Seeking a manufacturing engineering manager to become an integral part of our Spirit Lake Operations team building best-in-class Indian motorcycles. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager role provides site level leadership for three facets of our organizational structure: Assembly Manufacturing Engineering, Systems Engineering driving our Digital Transformation journey, and our Maintenance, Facilities, and Controls Engineering team that delivers day-to-day plant readiness as well as project integration to improve our site for the future. Ideal candidate will be a passionate engineering leader that has a focused understanding of manufacturing execution, passionate about people development, and works seamlessly within a high-functioning organization.

Responsibilities

  • Directly responsible for leading the Controls Engineering, Systems Engineering, Assembly Manufacturing Engineering, and Facility Maintenance personnel including budget performance, department organization, performance evaluations and other administrative activities
  • Collaborate and establish road map for short- and long-range strategy with leadership team, including, but not limited to digital transformation, future state map, product planning integration, and continual cost improvements
  • Drive Polaris Development Process (PDP) for site manufacturing team to integrate new products into production in conjunction with New Product Introduction (NPI) team ensuring key milestones completed on time.
  • Establish and review PFMEA’s for new product development and lead site team to implement improvement methods driving reduced risk priority numbers.
  • Direct the estimation of manufacturing costs for new or transferred products; suggests design changes, as necessary, to facilitate manufacturing, improve quality or reduce costs
  • Drives improved quality by evaluating designs and methods; recommending poka-yokes, assembly fixtures, and implementing solutions to improve quality and production issues
  • Lead facilities and maintenance team to achieve best-in-class preventative maintenance execution, maintain a safe and secure operation through internal team or via contracted services
  • Manage team safe work practices through safety recognition, pre-job hazard assessments, partnering with EHS&S on improvement ideas, addressing safety concerns efficiently
  • Create and drive alignment within the budgeting process for plant capital, tooling spend and departmental expenditures
  • Participate in Lean activities including tiered meetings, kaizens, and lean activities
  • Perform special projects as assigned

Additional Skills & Knowledge

  • 5-10 years manufacturing engineering experience in a fast-paced production environment
  • 5-7 years supervision and/or management experience preferred
  • Manufacturing (assembly, paint, weld) experience desired
  • Outstanding leadership, influence, and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Competent business computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite products

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing engineering required

Certification(s)

  • Lean and/or Six Sigma certification a plus.
