We are looking for an experienced Machine Learning Engineer to join our dynamic and growing Data & Analytics team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for executing our machine learning operations strategy, deploying machine learning models, creating scalable MLOps frameworks, and collaborating closely with data scientists, data engineers, and software engineers to deliver robust and high-performance machine learning solutions.

The Machine Learning Engineer will play a crucial role at Polaris at the heart of our innovation through facilitating data-driven decisions to enhance experiences and drive forward our commitment to those who seek the outdoors, whether for leisure, work, or exploration.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Strategy Execution: Assist in executing our machine learning operations strategy, ensuring that we remain at the cutting edge of MLOps practices and innovations.
  • Collaboration: Work intimately with data scientists and data engineering teams to design, build, and refine end-to-end machine learning pipelines and frameworks, spanning from predictive AI to generative AI.
  • MLOps Development: Architect and develop scalable MLOps frameworks and infrastructure that support the entire machine learning lifecycle, ranging from data ingestion, processing, model training, validation, deployment, to monitoring.
  • Integration: Collaborate with data scientists and software engineers to integrate machine learning models seamlessly into our production, real-time systems, emphasizing robustness, scalability, and top-tier performance.
  • Automation and CI/CD: Implement automation and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices for ML deployments. Streamline processes for model deployment, versioning, and testing to ensure efficient, reliable, and consistent updates and rollbacks.
  • Monitoring & Alerting: Design, develop, and maintain monitoring and alerting systems to vigilantly track model performance, data drift, and overall system health. This will empower the team to detect and address issues proactively.
  • Testing & Optimization: Drive initiatives to optimize resource consumption and cost-effectiveness. Establish scalable and efficient infrastructures for both model training and inference, leveraging the capabilities of modern cloud platforms.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Applied Statistics/Mathematics, Data Science, or work experience equivalent. Advanced degree in a quantitative field preferred
  • 2+ years of professional work experience (post schooling & internships) in machine learning engineering, deep learning, or data science.
  • Strong proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Java, or Scala. Familiarity with popular machine learning libraries like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn a plus.
  • 2+ years experience with cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, or GCP, especially their ML and AI services.
  • Solid understanding of continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) tools and practices, preferably with experience in Azure DevOps, GitLab CI, or similar.
  • Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes or other container orchestration platforms.
  • Ability to effectively foster cross-functional relationships across various teams (e.g., data & analytics teams, sales, supply chain, etc.) and develop a good view of how the business operates so that analytical results can be framed in a business context. 
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills to manage multiple work requests and projects. Ability to take on diverse ad-hoc data science requests involving multiple factors that have various scope/goals
  • High energy and results oriented. Looking to make improvements and change
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
