What to expect:
The Polaris Powertrain Engineering Internship is designed for future leaders who seek a culture built on innovative, passionate, and collaborative individuals. Our 12-week program allows you to have exposure to multiple facets of engineering to help you develop and define core areas of interest and strengths. Your assignments offer value-added deliverables that have a direct impact on developing new Polaris products.
You will have the invaluable chance to bring your education to life through real world project work at one of the most dynamic companies within the power sports industry. Through your experience you will have opportunities to expedite your knowledge of the business, develop innovative solutions to real business challenges and build a network of Polaris employees.
As a Powertrain Engineering Intern, you will:
Build upon your key skillsets of Powertrain in the areas of: Design, Development/System Integration, Manufacturing/Quality/Supplier Quality, Test or Project Engineering based on your interests and business need
Receive personalized goals and projects that track directly to the needs of the business and allow you to have a hand in key company initiatives
Collaborate with the Powertrain Team to design, develop and implement various engineering projects
Drive continuous improvements and problem solving for engineering roadblocks
Interns are hired and then partner with the Early Talent team in Spring 2024 to match them to their specific intern role, team, and location through our intentional intern matching process. Interns complete a survey that provides insights to the team and help us match them with the most meaningful opportunity best suited to their strengths, development areas, interests, and the needs of the business.
Interns are typically matched to a role in any of the following locations: Roseau, MN; Wyoming, MN; Osceola, WI; and other potential locations.
Interns who demonstrate exceptional performance and a passion to learn may be offered an additional internship or a full-time position, depending on graduation date.
Polaris offers a robust relocation program for interns who qualify through Weichert Workforce Mobility. Interns qualify for these services when their home address is 35 miles or more from the office where they will be working. Benefits include a lump sum (grossed up to offset your tax liability), access to a relocation counselor to explain the resources available to make securing short-term housing easy and follows interns closely until they have found a place to live. Intern responsibilities include:
Transportation to/from office
Securing housing for the duration of the internship
Attending a week-long summit event in Minnesota: an opportunity to learn from executives, network with other interns, and participate in professional development.
Required Qualifications:
Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related Engineering degree
Minimum overall GPA of 3.0
Able to complete full 12-week internship working 40 hours per week (May/June-August 2024)
Geographic flexibility and willingness to partake in the intern matching process as part of our internship program
Proven strength in the following: analysis and creative problem solving, communication, interpersonal relationships, self-motivation, and leadership
The drive to actively contribute to both personal and company-wide goals through creative and innovative thinking

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with engines
Completion of at least two years of university coursework
Previous Internship/Co-op experience
Previous leadership experience in work, organizations, or classroom
