Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: 

The Supply Chain Risk Management Lead will spend a majority of their time on site at assigned supplier locations collaborating to address systemic issues and improve delivery performance to satisfy Polaris material requirements.   Supply continuity is essential to managing operational costs, satisfying customers, and maintaining a competitive advantage in the market.  The Field Agent will have an instrumental role in accelerating the execution of identified solutions and ensuring sustainable solutions are implemented properly. 

 

The Lead is an important extension of the Supply Chain Management organization of Polaris, which includes Strategic Sourcing, Supplier Quality, Supplier Development, Materials Planning, Logistics, SIOP, and the Supply Chain Risk Management teams.  The Lead will successfully influence and partner with a supplier to strengthen our working relationship while also achieving Polaris objectives. 

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES : 

General Duties: 

  • Partner daily with assigned suppliers to strengthen relationships, build influence, and drive accountability of assigned actions and countermeasures to improve supply performance 

  • Responsible for making Polaris a priority customer and accelerating the implementation of sustainable solutions identified by the Supply Chain Risk Management organization.  

 

Supplier Collaboration & Communication: 

  • Establish and execute a tailored work plan for each supplier based on inputs from the supplier and the Supply Chain Risk Management organization 

  • Communication status updates on assigned actions and production output vs plan on a daily basis 

  • Escalate observed, incremental risks or concerns immediately to the appropriate team members in the Supply Chain Risk Management organization 

  • Ensure the supplier feels supported in their requests for assistance by connecting them with the appropriate Polaris contacts and helping to follow-through on those requests 

  • Communicate daily with the Strategic Sourcing agents and Central Planners responsible for the relationship with the suppliers you are visiting 

  • Strategically network with supplier contacts to gain more information and influence priority 

 

Performance Metrics & Deliverables: 

  • Set and track adherence to daily and weekly performance targets for assigned suppliers 

  • Drive the supplier to get caught up to MRP requirements and use of standard freight for all materials on a consistent basis 

  • Ultimately, eliminate the need for ongoing on-site support through confidence in the actions taken to catch up and capacitize properly to support forecasted material requirements 

  • Focus on strengthening the working relationship with suppliers and leave the relationship in a better place at the end of your engagement with a supplier 

  • Ensure there is a seamless transfer of knowledge and open actions with the Strategic Sourcing agents and Central Planners responsible for the relationship with a supplier 

 

 

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE 

Required: 

  • 6+ years’ experience in operations, supply chain, sourcing, industrial engineering or related experience 

  • Flexible, comfortable with ambiguity and travel 

  • Knowledge of and comfort working in a manufacturing setting 

  • Must possess highly effective influence and relationship-building skills to foster productive working relations 

  • Analytical and detail oriented to manage and drive accountability to action registers 

  • Proficient in all MS Office software suite 

  • Ability to Multi Task, can manage competing priorities 

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing 

  • Light Mechanical aptitude, hands-on – willing to roll up sleeves 

  • Entrepreneurial, independent, self-starter 

 

Preferred: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred (Business, Engineering, Operations) 

  • Powersports Industry Knowledge 

  • Polaris business and product knowledge 

  • An understanding, appreciation and passion for Polaris product 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS 

  • Fast-paced, dynamic culture in hybrid office / remote environment, with travel

  • Position can be based out of any North American Polaris facility, or remote with ability to travel on short notice to support team activities 

  • Travel required up to 80% for on-site support at supplier locations
