Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for supporting production lines on all tool related issues
  • Support daily torque audits per schedule on A, B and C class joints, comply with static/dynamic audit procedures
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, knowledge of GD&T standard.
  • Establish and validate P-Sets per engineering drawings and apply to correct torque monitor
  • Manage and comply with scheduled calibration program for production tools
  • Maintain proper labeling for all production tooling
  • Adhere to safety and ergonomics when establishing, setting, adjusting and replacing tools
  • Assist M.E and Q.E with pilot build,
    • Establish/purchase proper tools
    • Implement fastener run-down strategies and communication with PinPoint
    • Set up, maintain, and monitor torque database and audit route for each model
    • Review torque results and notify management of any trends or out of spec conditions
  • Create torque to failure studies and joint analysis per Engineering and QA requests
  • Assist production with other duties such as RMO support, sorting, inspection, and troubleshooting
  • Assist with support of rework by programming tools and creating the audit strategy
  • Train operators on how to use tools and comply with sign off verification sheet
  • Communicate with multiple tool suppliers on correct applications of torque tools
  • Assist maintenance with PM and tool repair for all torque tools

Skills and Knowledge

  • Minimum of 6 months experience as a Torque Specialist, or equivalent external experience with DC Torque Tools, required
  • High school diploma or GED equivalency required. AA degree in a technical field preferred.
  • 3-5 years manufacturing experience required.
  • Candidate must have strong knowledge of computers and the ability to troubleshoot processes, products and tool issues.
  • Able to be flexible to meet production, quality and engineering needs
  • Capable of performing torque auditor duties across all lines.
  • Understanding of torque concepts, torque monitoring equipment, pneumatic and electric tools.
  • Good organizational, problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, possess strong problem-solving skills and make sound decisions.
  • Ability to multitask is essential
  • Candidate must possess strong people skills and must be able to work with others to solve issues
