Great Machine!
Only have 500 miles on it but so far so good. I moved into this from a 570 and I have to admit that it takes some getting use to due to the power. There has been a couple of times that I hit the throttle and it takes off way faster than the 570.
I love that the grill comes out to make cleaning the radiator easy and the removable storage tray is awesome because it makes everything very accessible

ride it like you stole it
most of my riding is on trails and forest roads. if you encounter twisty, rutted, rocky trails, that doesn't mean you slow down on this machine. it handles everything i throw at it with ease. control and handling is spot on. the power steering makes the machine handle like it is a lot lighter than it is. weight transfer is perfect, lean forward to get a little more bite from the front tires going into a corner and lean back to get traction coming out of the corner. in that manner it handles just like my 2017 rush snowmobile. the power from the 850 engine is awesome. i have 700 fun miles on this atv. no issues it just works.

I thought my Polaris 500 HO had power, but this 850 is a beast. Super smooth delivery of the power, and excellent handing and brakes! Ride and ground clearance are also excellent and enjoy the super clear and bright instrument cluster. My 850 Titanium leaves all my buddies and their rides in the dust!

Great ATV
Use my atv mostly for recreational purposes. Lots of power, rides great, power steering is nice and light, great AWD system, looks great. Lots of features.
Only things I'm not happy with is that the sway bar can move back and forth allowing it to contact the springs. Power steering works good but occasionally when I'm stopped the assist feels less than normal. Dealer quickly looked at it and told me it was normal.
At the first service I noticed that I already had play in the rear knuckle bushings. Obviously not great quality there. My sway bar bushings are also getting worn quite a bit at 1000km. Have to keep them lubed up real good to prevent squeaks

Definitely worth the price
I bought a new 850 sportsman, it's pretty good, thought it would have a touch more power. It's alright though. Nice cup holder. Needs a 2" receiver hitch. Could move the rear axle back a couple inches too. Over all a nice unit. Brake light switch don't work on foot brake. Cup holder is on the wrong side. Nice storage. Tires could be better. Smooth down the road at 83 though.

Great for casual riders who like to get muddy
I bought this machine as an upgrade to my 570 Sportsman and quite honestly i was expecting the ride quality to be smoother than it is but otherwise a good upgrade with the power steering which i didnt care about at first but now i think its nice to have. The extra power is cool too but theres not that much difference in the power with it being a heavier machine. All digital gauges i like as a premium feature and the rims look nice. It has less storage capacity than my 570 so thats a down side. Great 4wd as always. I baptized the machine on one heck of a nasty trail and it did pretty well! Also i love the way it sounds. The exhaust system has a low growl to it and sounds amazing.

Nice ride
My 850 is a great bike. Suspension is smooth. Engine is powerful. Can't wait for hunting season this year. I use to cruise around the ranch, and explore the mountains. Used it to pull a roping dummy. The ultimate trail edition is a good package. The bigger tires, LED lights, winch and bumper definitely come in handy in the mountains. I drive literally thru and over anything in my way with ease. My only complaint is that it takes a while to clean after you go mudding. Lots of little nooks and crannys. But to be fair, I mudded the heck out of it lol whatever you need/want it for, the 850 can handle anything with ease. This is first my first atv, however; I've been around enough to know that this is a serious machine. It continues to impress me with each ride.

Rugged Beast!
I've had the machine since January. It plowed snow all winter with ease. It has plenty of power to effortlessly move large amounts of snow. I didn't even need tire chains. It's just as strong and rugged off road. I've used it on some unimproved trails in some really remote areas and it handles anything and everything. With it's power, great ground clearance and superb electronic steering I can get in and out of some really tough places. It goes over huge logs, and deep holes without getting hung up. Great all around machine!

I bought this quad for my wife to get her off the couch. She loves it! We also have a XP 1000 High Lifter and an Artic Cat 700. By far the 850 handles and rides better than the other bikes reducing fatigue. I got some larger tires with wider rims so it has never been stuck and will easily keep up with the Hi Lifter. Powerful and fast, yet fuel efficient, superb handling, can't flip it with the wide wheels. Traction for mud and hill climbing is incredible. Get this quad with the pro armor tires, u'll be glad you did!

Love my 850!!!
Bought a 570 new in 2015 and had to sell it before last summer due to bills. When I got a flyer for new machines this spring, I went to check them out fully intending to buy a new 570 sp. After driving the sp, I tried the 850 right next to it and fell in love with the ride and power. Took it home 3 days later and haven't stopped smiling since. Awesome machine!!!

Awesome all around machine
I've had my 8:50 for about 4 months now. I bought it as an addition to my 2011 Sportsman 550 XP that has 2300 miles and also has been a great machine. The 850 has tons of power and the more you stab the throttle the more power just keeps coming and it never seems like it runs out. The ride is incredibly smooth and that paired with a very smooth running engine makes this a great choice for day long rides and working without fatigue. I haven't really run into anything to complain about with it yet. The storage is great although one issue that I could see is someone that would want to put a box on the back rack would then cover the built-in rear storage compartment making it difficult or completely inaccessible. That being said there is quite a bit of waterproof storage between the front and rear rack and I haven't felt the need for more personally. I 100% recommend this machine to anyone looking for a great work and play machine.

Feeling sound for the purchase
I watched my buddy accidentally submerge his quad in a lake, we got it out and did your typical drain the fluids and change them out. Crank it over with the spark plugs out to shoot water out. We let the quad sit for a day or two to dry out and the thing still runs like a champ, I bought my quad about a month before and my buddy doing this and then his Polaris 850 still running months later flawlessly. If that doesn’t make you feel good about your purchase knowing the thing can last, idk what will. Won’t ever buy another brand after that. Made me feel confident in my purchase

Great machine
I use this machine around the ranch, it does a great job, getting in places the ranger can't go. It has a great amount power, pulls what I need it to pull, climbs some pretty steep inclines, the brake assist is great going down the same inclines. I would mention how fast it goes on a county road, without any road wobble slowing down, great control as far as speeding up and keeping constant speed. But I'm sure Polaris doesn't want me to mention the speed. "Hint I'm a speed junky LOL."

Love my sportsman 850
I use my sportsman around the farm, plus 200 acres and for fun.. no real deep mud. Or anything but I've never had an issue. Just got the 2022 after owning a 2019. Cadillac ride. This is also a fault since it has softer springs which also sag over time..I can still pull most anything.. switch to a synthetic winch rope and it'll fix snapping the wire rope all the time. Only other gripe is that their accessories are mega expensive.. the ow is $1000..like, really?.. couldn't afford to get the plow at the time and now sourcing it after the fact. Last thing I don't like is that they make it hard to tie in the aftermarket parts into the price now; at least that was my experience...that I wasn't happy with.. but the machine I like.. there are a few other things that could be done better but over all it's a great machine

Powerfull quad lacking quality
Very powerful atv. Has great options. Good for play but lacks a sturdy hitch receiver for work. The other downfall is the rear sway bar rubs the rear shocks. This is on my new unit with 80 miles. My buddy has the same problem on his machine we bought weeks apart. But he has double my machines miles and double the damage from the sway bar rubbing the shock. poor design

The real mans toy
Quite an amazing machine!! After a few upgrades for looks, straight and performance witch are standard for someone riding in the west coast climate and demanding trails. There are the ups and downs to the machine but all the different atv have there qualities and flaws! , but the Polaris sportsman 1000 trail edition is the closest to perfection and it also reflex’s on the support team from the sales staff, parts department, to the Machanic who repairs our mistakes offer the weekend outing. Thank you Polaris and staff for doing it right !!

Nice new toy
I use my machine for many thing to which include yard work, trail work, hunting and fishing, and just out playing around. The 3 motor modes are great for this variety of things. Work mode is like riding a 570 with a ton of low end power for getting the jobs and task at hand done. Standard mode is like riding the 850 get you to where you need to be with no lack of power. Performance mode now there is something to talk about. When in this mode you get the full 1000cc of fun but hold on because your going to get there fast. This mode wakes the machine up and you are in for one fun ride.

Polaris steps up with 2018 Sportsman XP
I have owned several Polaris sportsman’s over the years but this 2018 XP 1000 has been improved greatly this year. The suspension does not wallow or push in the turns and still gives a soft ride. The seat is pillow soft and has a non slip cover.
The engine is powerful and smooth but seems like there should be more hit on the bottom end for a 1000cc engine. It is still fast enough to get you into trouble if you are not an experienced rider paying attention, yes it will haul the mail that’s for sure.

Weapon!!
I use my Polaris ATV's for work, hunting and pleasure riding on the trails, my 2012 850 Sportsman has been a great machine and my new 1000XP sportsman is a Weapon!!
Great handling and more power than I need. I am a license Auto Motive Technician for the past 35 years and one thing that Polaris needs to do is put grease fittings in the suspension and grease them at the factory!! My new one had none and when I disassembled the complete suspension I even found the pins and bushing with No Grease at all!! I installed 18 grease fittings. I have had over 25 New and used Polaris sleds, atv's and side by sides over the last 26 years and love the Brand but you need to do better on issues like I mentioned here!! That's the reason why my overall rating is only Good instead of Excellent. Thank You

The active hill dissent, power steering
I Purchased machine about five months ago, I am a hunter I hunt in the great Adirondacks of New York. My new Sportsman XP 1000 Hunter fits in there very well with it’s great power steering on some of the tightest trails and the active hill decent performed perfectly on some of the terrain I frequent.

Fantastic!!
I bought the XP 1000 Premium before Memorial Day for some mountain and snow riding. The XP 1000 exceeded my expectations with quick power and torque. The factory tires really dug through the old spring snow on the high elevation forest roads. Very happy with this Sportsman.

Smooth Fast Fun!
Just finished my 25 hour break-in period and this machine is FAST and FUN! The EPS is awesome, and this beast will definitely get your adrenaline flowing, especially in Performance mode. It took several rides before I was comfortable with the huge performance increase over my 2005 ATP 500HO, but after 25 hours it already feels like an old friend. The handling is sharp and the entire platform feels stable, but respect the immediate torque when you hit the throttle! Overall it's an awesome machine.
A couple of minor issues are the Polaris rack extenders required me to remove the nice factory rack tie down bars. I still don't under stand why Polaris doesn't give some simple connections for Hi/Low/Backup lighting, or even a low current line to trigger a relay. When can we expect a front rack storage box to match the rear storage box accessory?

Disappointed...
I bought this back in early January, suspension is too soft clutching makes it feel heavy and sluggish really dives when you let off the gas, can am outlander are superior in my opinion, I wish it had the led headlights like some models do and more aggressive shocks and snappier throttle and low end power power steering is way to easy and soft not responsive enough. This machine is meant for a 70 year old person that rides dirt roads on a farm.

Greatest bike made
I bought my xp1000 4 months ago and still can’t get over it. This bike has all the power in the world. Nobody can touch this thing out on the dunes. It climbs out of everything with dirt tires on it. I have raced it against built 450’s, banshees, and even other side by sides with turbos on them. I have beaten them all. There is no better feeling then chasing them down and passing them. Trust me this bike will not disappoint!

Expensive but worth it
Love the power and handling, I was able to get a 20' that had the better trail package than the 21'. I miss the old days when they were simple and you could do most of the repair work on them yourself. they're very complex now with too much electronics, be ready to have to take it in for anything more than simple maintenance. Best performing ATV I've ever owned, suspension, handling and power are excellent.

First Polaris
Only three trips a year for me...ice fishing, trail riding in the mountains, and November hunting. So far I've only had my Sportsman through a hunting trip and I'm on the fence. The ride and overall comfort is unrivaled, however, the factory tires leave a LOT to be desired. The performance in deeper (10") snow was less than ideal. The tires have little traction in that environment and the performance climbing hills with much less (2-4") of snow was horrible. I've hunted the same area for 17 years and climbed those hills year after year in my Rubicon's, Outlander 800's, and Mudpro 700's with ease and my Sportsman barely makes it up some and left me coming down backwards multiple times which isn't an experience that I enjoy. A+ on the ride but I'm not thrilled about needing to invest another bucket of money to invest in tires that will perform in the conditions that I ride most often (snow).

Amazing machine in almost every respect
I purchased my 2020 Polaris XP 1000 Trail Edition 4 months ago and it has been nothing short of life changing. I have ridden many other off-road vehicles before, including lesser Polaris Sportsman models and most major brands, but this ride is on a whole new level. The amount of power, control, features, aesthetics and flexibility is incredible. Charging down dirt roads at 60 mph drifting into wide turns is just as outstanding as negotiating tight spaces and extreme features of difficult trails. It is also remarkably well built and durable. You will do things to it sure that you must be causing some sort of damage and the vehicle just eats it up and asks for seconds. My one complaint is a minor one. The power steering is a little touchy at speed. You will be grateful the steering is so powerful at slow speeds, but a little fearful of the steering at high speed if you are an inexperienced rider. Overall this is most satisfied I have ever been with a vehicle purchase of any type. After considering many other options there was just no substitute for Polaris power, engineering and workmanship. I paid a lot to be the first 2020 XP 1000 owner in the state of Oregon and I have to say this thing is worth every penny and more. Except no substitutes.

Lots of Power and Comfort
I was interested in this particular model as it was factory equipped with almost everything I wanted, leaving me with very little to do other than ride. The power of this machine is impressive but the comfort is equally important, at least to me. I don't know exactly how Polaris does it, but the seat and the riding position work together to allow for all day riding comfort.

Sprortman XP1000 hunter edition
Power steering is the main upgrade I was looking for in upgrading from my 2013 850. Power is awesome, I like the work-standard- performance switch option as well. More power than expected.. heated grips and thumb warmers are an added bonus. Cup holder, re configuration of the trunk to keep moisture out. It’s going to be a great ice fishing rig.

Amazing in every way!
I've owned many Polaris ATV's, big and small, as well as a Ranger. For the first time in the ATV segment, I decided to go with a twin, a Sportsman 850 SP in 2017. Couldn't be happier and it does everything I need an ATV to do including plow a lot of snow! Fast forward to 2018, I decided to buy another ATV and went with a Sportsman 1000 Hunter. WOW! What a machine! I didn't think it could be that much better than the 850, but it is. Throttle, suspension, brakes, power steering, tires, performance adjustability and the power! I am so impressed with this machine, I would recommend it to anyone. My ranger was fully loaded with cab, HVAC, plow, gun racks, etc...The only thing I did not have was tracks so I'm no stranger to a heavily accessorized machine. This Hunter 1000 is truly awe inspiring and the only thing I think it should have as part of the package is hand guards. Polaris definitely hit it out of the park with this machine!

Design leaves a bit to be desired!
Purchased on 2018-05-09 and find the following as problems.
1. Front trunk is too small.
2. New larger add-on rear trunk was not designed to allow for a back rest. { I have an idea for an add-on attachment to resolve the problem}.
3. A slightly larger gas tank would be nice.
4.Some way to allow for accessories off the windshield/handlebar area.

Good-looking machine.
I am disappointed in this machine. I drove the machine in the rain one day and the seat must have absorbed water. the next day that it was dry out but my butt got wet sitting on the machine. you would think paying extra money for 12 more horsepower would enable it to beat an 850 but it does not.

Fantastic machine
Originally purchased for work on the property. As it turns out, the overall capabilities provided much more than anticipated.
From the power options in proportion to the activity, towing sleds behind in the snow, to turning it loose on the hills, the machine excels throughout.
Cannot go wrong with this machine.

Great Quad
We could not be happier with this quad. Our son loves it and I am very impressed by it. It goes through mud, snow, and water with ease. It is fast but can be slowed right down. I like the grease points and the little details that it has that the cheap knock off brands don’t. So far we are really happy.

A very fun ATV for kids
I bought this ATV for my 9 year old son 4 months ago. He still rides it every day. I also go to a nearby network of 70 miles of ATV trails with him (I ride an adult ATV of course), and the little Outlaw 110 does wonderfully. Our only complaints relate to 1) the front break pads/shoes wore out a bit quicker than I would have wished; and 2) the rear clearance -- the chain and axle protector is about 2 inches lower than it really needs to be, leaving him only a bit over 4" of rear clearance. On the trails I sometimes have to get off my ATV and lift the back of his up to help him clear some boulders and such as a result. We were tempted to remove the guard piece as a result, but then damage would likely occur to the chain or axle.

I bought this machine only because I was told it was a Polaris made machine. Turns out it’s made by aeon motor sports. Fee have had a few issues with it early on. The new fuel pump seems to be keeping it running. It could use a bigger battery. We have 2 of the same machines with Yamaha “stickers” on them but 20cc less and carbureted and they have better take off and higher top end, and neither of them have been back to the dealer.

Speed, ease and reliability
I knew purchasing this I would put it through more than it was intended for. I wish it would have had actual hose clamps on the crankcase vents rather than the simple spring loaded clamps but honestly I can't complain after what my daughter put this thing through. Yes the spring-loaded clamp popped off due to a stick hitting it and causing water to flood the crankcase and me to rebuild it but the cost of doing the rebuild was honestly not that bad. Like I said for what this thing is intended for and what my daughter put it through it did a darn good job.

110 Sportsman review
The granddaughter is loving the bike. The bike is stable and has enough power to work well in the sand. The wheelie guard on the bike drags in the sand and often is an issue when riding in soft sand. All in all, a great bike for a youngster to learn to ride on. Stable enough for the adults to be reassured when kids are riding. The bike has enough power to be challenged going up a hill and learning the ropes of riding in the dunes. Very happy with the purchase and will be buying another one when the youngest grandson is old enough to ride.

We bought 2 for our 4 grandkids and they ride them at our farm when they visit. The machines are great except I find the brakes need constant adjusting and they don’t stand up well in the mud. The throttle is easily clogged up with mud and they have very low clearance. Battery failed in one in the first week. However dispute its short comings they are good machines.

My daughter turned 11 and this is her first bike. It’s just enough power for her to get up the small dunes in Glamis. It’s a great bike for her to learn on! We did get a thumb extender and that had helped her hand a lot. Otherwise it is easy fir her to start, it’s very stable and I love the reverse! The reverse has saved us from having to get her unstuck.
