This article is intended to help define battery charger notifications received from RIDE COMMAND+ via the Polaris app and provide further instructions if the notification (example shown below) is received:
"RIDE COMMAND recommends connecting a battery charger to your 2024 RGR XD 1500 NORTHSTAR ULTIMATE."
A recommendation to connect a battery charger is triggered when the 12V battery on your Polaris vehicle has reached a state of charge level of 25%.
This notification does not indicate that a fault has occurred on your Polaris vehicle. It is sent as a courtesy notification to help prevent a no-start situation.
If a low battery notification is received, it is advised to perform the following before taking your Polaris vehicle to an authorized dealer:
- Check the 12V battery and battery terminals for cleanliness and proper terminal torque. Battery care instructions can be found in your Owner's Manual.
- Connect a battery charger or maintainer to your vehicle as instructed in the Owner's Manual for your specific Polaris vehicle.
- Test your vehicle for proper operation. If the vehicle starts without issues and no warning indicators are present while driving, no additional actions are needed.
- Continue to maintain the 12V battery in your Polaris vehicle according to the instructions provided in your Owner's Manual.
If persistent battery charger notifications occur after proper battery care, it may be an indicator that the 12V battery needs replacing. Have the 12V battery tested and replaced if necessary. For more information, please read Battery Charging and Maintenance Tips for Polaris Off-Road Vehicles.
