HR Manager, Motorcycle Operations

The Plant Human Resources Manager is a strategic business partner to the Plant Director of the Spirit Lake & Milford manufacturing facilities. The HRM is responsible for leading the HR function within the Spirit Lake facility, coaching and developing the HR team to ensure supply and development of top-tier talent, shape the plant culture and promote Polaris values, and design the organization (strategy, structure, people, processes and rewards). The HRM also ensures the department demonstrates HR functional excellence in areas such as recruitment, training, orientation, quality, compensation and benefits, and flawlessly executes the design and implementation of HR initiatives and annual processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Talent: Ensure talent is available and pipelines are full at all levels of the organization.

  • Talent management for all Operations, including identification of talent needs and talent acquisition with the end game of building world-class teams with bench strength that can deliver against plant strategic and operational initiatives.

  • Build and maintain a strong leadership team through coaching, mentoring and development at all levels.

  • Coach and develop a team of HR professionals to support the plant’s business and HR objectives and to grow into strong candidates for future HR leadership roles within Polaris.

Culture: Build a culture that exemplifies Polaris values and drives employer of choice status.

  • Actively develop and foster a positive employee relations climate, high employee engagement, team effectiveness and integration, and employer of choice status. 

  • Maintain visibility and active presence within facilities, providing daily support and communication. Actively participate in leadership meetings and strategy sessions.

  • Identify and implement opportunities to build a sense of team, camaraderie and community.

  • Identify, communicate and problem-solve employee relations issues.

  • Represent Polaris in the communities and foster positive community relations.


Organization: Design an organization built to succeed.

  • Act as business partner to the Plant Director and plant leadership team to execute against strategic priorities and facilitate success against line-side metrics, goals and objectives.

  • Own organizational design for facilities and footprints, including strategic and talent components described elsewhere in the description as well as:

o Balancing of organization structure to allow for maximum performance within teams.

o Implementing processes and lateral capabilities that drive efficiencies between teams.
o Developing and maintaining rewards systems that support plant priorities and drive behavioral and operational change across the employee population.

Functional Excellence: Deliver excellent HR functional service.

  • Develop and execute annual HR plans that address client HR issues and align with client business agenda and priorities, high potential employee development, leadership succession planning, and other desired organizational development and changes.

  • Partner with central HR teams to ensure HR functional excellence in core processes such as compensation and benefits, talent acquisition, and organizational development.

  • Develop lean HR processes to drive excellence and capability to deliver value for client groups in organization and people development and management.

  • Coach, counsel and direct leadership and HR team regarding Company policies and employment law. Ensure fairness and consistency.

  • Participate in and/or drive safety action and engagement.

  • Verify facility is in compliance with all local and federal regulations in regards to labor.

  • Day-to-day HR tasks and other duties and projects as required or assigned.


ADDITIONAL SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and anxious to develop an organization from the ground up.

  • Cultural savvy: able to discern key aspects of Polaris culture and maintain them.

  • Must be willing to relocate and travel for career advancement.


KEY EXPERIENCES:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field is required; Master’s degree preferred.

  • 6- 8+ years of experience in Human Resources, with at least 2+ years of experience managing an HR team.

  • Direct experience with employee relations initiatives that actively engage all levels of the workforce population (from hourly workforce to Leadership Members) is required.

  • Proven track record of successfully implementing HR programs and initiatives.

  • Change management, org design, org effectiveness and facilitation experience is required.

  • Experience with successful defense and maintenance of direct employee relations is strongly preferred.

  • Proven effectiveness in matrix and dynamic environment.

  • Experience with Lean and Lean HR preferred.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Office and manufacturing environment. Some travel to other Polaris sites may be necessary (<20%).
