JOB SUMMARY: Polaris is recruiting for a Director of Enterprise Data Management who will bring with them a high level of business acumen, technical leadership, and a vision for the future of data management in manufacturing. Candidates must possess both excellent communication skills and the critical thinking capabilities to stand up new enterprise data governance and master data management capabilities.
This Bangalore based role is positioned within a broader Data & Analytics organization whose mission is to turn data into a market leading strategic advantage for Polaris. The Director of Enterprise Data Management contribution to this mission is to improve Polaris’ data by managing it as a valuable, strategic asset.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: • The job will require the definition, development, and deployment of data management standards by standing up services for Master Data Management, Data Quality Remediation and Data Governance. The Director of Enterprise Data Management will have significant autonomy in developing the team that will operate across these services and interact with the rest of the organization with a strong service mindset. • Hiring a team of data professionals focused on the management of critical data elements from across Polaris • Drives strategy and implementation of defined product and services, to further the agenda of enterprise data management, data democratization incl. establishing governance models as needed • Defines and communicates the product vision and roadmap, and is a strong communicator that can champion the product’s value to the businesses, EDOs and leadership • Manages the data product demand and design requirements; ensure products are built, managed, and industrialized to meet business needs and deliver ongoing value. • Talent Management of the Data Teams including performance, rewards, coaching and building culture. Beyond leadership of these teams, Director of Enterprise Data Management position will also hold the responsibility to: • Champion Polaris’ enterprise data strategy through leadership of a data governance council • Provide insight and input into the development of a Master Data Management and Data Governance IT stack • Work closely with appropriate business stakeholders and executives to develop vision, strategy, goals, and objectives regarding data governance and master data management • Manage and resolve tickets in the backlog in accordance with established SLAs • Manage and maintain healthy and strong relationships with stakeholders and ensure solutions are delivered on time and budget
• Maintain relationships with key technology vendors to understand key trends and product direction
• Work to influence vendor roadmaps so their offerings better align to Polaris needs
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE • 10+ years Leading Business Intelligence, ETL, data governance, and master data solutions • In-depth experience of data/information management practices, systems and processes including information lifecycle management, data modelling, master data management, meta-data management • Experience with large-scale data or program management and oversight • B.S. one of follow or related field: Computer Science, Engineering, Technology, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or related data intensive field preferred • Credentialed certifications in Data Governance and Master Data Management are a plus • Extensive experience analyzing complex data, managing multiple projects with increasing difficulty and complexity, and developing sophisticated reports • Management and leadership experience in the data space • Experience in a Manufacturing related industry • Demonstrated experience in project management and organization • Hands-on experience leading teams through the entire software development lifecycle of a data governance and master data solution • Working knowledge of requirements and design best practices, including data modeling, data transformation and dashboard design • Knowledge of leading data governance and master data tools • Experience implementing and/or supporting data governance policies and processes • Capability of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
