Job Summary:

  • This position is based in the Polaris Structural Testing Department. This  which is a Central Operations department who provides component, assembly and vehicle structural testing, data acquisition and analysis services for all Polaris products. The department serves all Polaris powersports platforms including but not limited to off-road vehicles, boats, snowmobiles, motorcycles, and military. The department is split between the Polaris Product Development Centers in both Wyoming and Roseau in Minnesota. This Test Technician role will be based in the out of the Wyoming, Mn facility and will be supporting the existing team of three test technicians and engineers based there. Main responsibilities will include revolve around supporting the test engineers inthe execution of component and vehicle tests, test development and data collection. that have been developed and gathering data from those tests.
  • As a member of the Structural Test team, gather data for structural analysis, design, and validation purposes by instrumenting vehicles with test equipment using current procedures. Lead test activities on development/concept vehicles using various equipment. Travel and mechanical work required.


  • Leads test planning and executes data collection trips to remote locations
  • Develop and write new test strategies, follow and execute existing procedures, which assess the durability of Polaris components and/or vehicles
  • Set-up Polaris sub-system assemblies per engineering drawings and torque specifications
  • Set-up and operate lab test equipment including, but not limited to, hydraulic or pneumatic actuators, electrodynamic shakers, spin stands, ovens, and chillers
  • Responsible for maintaining and calibrating test equipment
  • Test fixture design assistance and light fabrication
  • Assist with the installation and usage of instrumentation for temperature, load, acceleration, displacement, and strain as required
  • Operation of Polaris vehicles
  • Monitoring and inspection of cyclic testing
  • Understanding of the installation and usage of instrumentation for Load, Acceleration, Displacement and, Strain
  • Operation of prototype vehicles and data collection test equipment
  • Basic understanding of test data processing.
  • Complete and submit technical test reports upon completion of test activities
  • Responsible for the quality and integrity of field test and lab test data
  • Maintain and organize equipment to ensure efficient reliable operation and OSHA compliance.

  • Maintains and communicates an up to dateup-to-date schedule of testing and down time
  • Seek out and attend job related training opportunities.
  • Motivated self-starter, willing to work overtime as needed
  • Responsible for the quality and integrity of field test and lab test data
  • Maintains a well-organized clean work area and meet OSHA requirements
  • Ability to present self professionally and successfully work with vendors
  • Maintain strict confidentiality

  • 2-year technology degree preferred
  • 3-5 years related technical experience preferred
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Basic fabrication skills e.g., milling, drilling and welding
  • Test data collection, processing, and analysis using Somat eDAQ
  • Excellent hands-on experience with trouble shooting electrical systems.
  • Experience performing vehicle and system-level testing
  • Knowledge of MTS 793 and MPE software an advantage
  • Experienced with test planning and coordination
  • Quality and customer-focused
  • Self-motivated with attention to detail
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Basic understanding of metal fatigue is preferred Capable of operating forklifts preferred


  • Majority of time is spent in a test lab environment alongside running test equipment (eye protection required, hearing protection required in certain areas). 
  • Dynamic, fast-paced environment with travel up to 50%
  • Time split between office and shop/test labs. Motivated self-starter, willing to work overtime as needed
  • Flexible work arrangement available. Some tests require out of office hours monitoring
  • This job requires you to lift up-to 40lbs, bend, twist, turn, kneel, squat, reach overhead, perform strong pinch and grip, push pull up to 100lbs
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Training will be provided for missing skills
