Polaris is looking for a Workday HRIS Analyst to join our team. You will be the subject matter expert consulting with stakeholders on the design and maintenance of Workday HRIS, including core HCM, Benefits, Absence, Compensation, Talent/Performance, Recruiting, Reporting/Analytics, Peakon, Help, and Journeys.  Evaluate new system functionality and recommend solutions in response to rapidly changing business requirements.  Lead end-to-end implementation activities including configuration, testing, training, change management, and communication. Responsible for day-to-day system support with HR Business Partners and managers, troubleshooting, and other projects or responsibilities as required.

Workday Design, Configuration, and Support

  • As a Workday HRIS Analyst, develop excellent knowledge of Polaris configuration across all modules
  • Consult with HR Business Partners and Center of Excellence Leaders to understand business needs and develop Workday solutions to address them
  • Ensure prioritization of change requests and evaluate the system-wide impact of any proposed enhancements
  • Act as subject matter expert, providing troubleshooting and other support for end users, escalate complex issues as needed
  • Perform ongoing maintenance regarding security, tenant set-up, data updates (EIBs), business processes, and reporting
  • Serve as a Named Support Contact to log cases and partner with Workday Support to test solutions
  • Analyze internal business processes to ensure optimal configuration and to facilitate a continual return on investment
  • Actively participate in Workday Community, customer groups and networking events; leverage Workday network to identify best practices that would benefit Polaris


  • Act as global reporting expert – utilize various types of reports (Advanced, Matrix, Composite), calculated fields, scheduled output, etc. to deliver creative solutions
  • Participate in Metrics Steering Team meetings; partner with internal Workday team to develop and deliver prioritized data solutions
  • Lead design and implementation of roadmap items as assigned

Bi-Annual Upgrades/Enhancements

  • Lead bi-annual release process, including project management of the cross-functional team and testing
  • Thoroughly review enhancement and functionality changes, highlighting items of significance along with recommendations of enhancements to adopt, including timing
  • Configure and test new enhancements and related changes; ensure all delegated testing is complete across the modules
  • Assist with the preparation of training materials or instructions if necessary
  • Communicate and/or train users on new features or enhancements

Annual Processes

  • Support annual configuration required for benefits open enrollment, compensation planning and performance management, consulting with internal Workday team or functional areas on content decisions
  • Test and troubleshoot configurations and business processes
  • Assist with the preparation of training materials or instructions if necessary
  • Conduct system training on new features or enhancements

Continuous Process Improvement

  • Partner with HR Business Process Owners (Compensation, Benefits, Talent, etc.) to design the system according to requirements and find solutions for continuous improvements.
  • Understand future system functionality through networking, Workday Community and User Groups to help drive innovative HR processes
  • Acts as Subject Matter Expert to support and drive HR processes in Workday
  • Help maintain data integrity in systems by running queries, examining data monthly, working with the HR team, and verifying Audit (internal and external) requirements are met every year
  • Develop training materials (user procedures, guidelines, job aids, and documentation) and coordinate training with new system users and for Employee Self Service


  • Bachelors Degree (4 year degree for US applicants; 3 year degree for non-US applicants)


  • 3 - 5 years of progressive Workday HRIS specific experience (including design, configuration, testing)


  • Advanced, demonstrable knowledge of Workday HRIS
