Sportsman XP 1000

PERFORMANCE WITHOUT LIMITS

2023 Sportsman XP 1000 Ultimate Trail Stealth Black is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 179.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Powerfull quad lacking quality Very powerful atv. Has great options. Good for play but lacks a sturdy hitch receiver for work. The other downfall is the rear sway bar rubs the rear shocks. This is on my new unit with 80 miles. My buddy has the same problem on his machine we bought weeks apart. But he has double my machines miles and double the damage from the sway bar rubbing the shock. poor design

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing!! After one month of moderate operation, couple day trips, rear bushings and wheel bearings had to be replaced. “Dry from the factory” also clutch creeps, won’t do it at the shop “nothing is wrong with it”

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed Bought in September, already had problems. EPS went during the first snow storm. Took dealer three weeks to fix. Was told by dealer it was Polaris that wouldn’t put a new EPS on machine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The real mans toy Quite an amazing machine!! After a few upgrades for looks, straight and performance witch are standard for someone riding in the west coast climate and demanding trails. There are the ups and downs to the machine but all the different atv have there qualities and flaws! , but the Polaris sportsman 1000 trail edition is the closest to perfection and it also reflex’s on the support team from the sales staff, parts department, to the Machanic who repairs our mistakes offer the weekend outing. Thank you Polaris and staff for doing it right !!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice new toy I use my machine for many thing to which include yard work, trail work, hunting and fishing, and just out playing around. The 3 motor modes are great for this variety of things. Work mode is like riding a 570 with a ton of low end power for getting the jobs and task at hand done. Standard mode is like riding the 850 get you to where you need to be with no lack of power. Performance mode now there is something to talk about. When in this mode you get the full 1000cc of fun but hold on because your going to get there fast. This mode wakes the machine up and you are in for one fun ride.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Polaris steps up with 2018 Sportsman XP I have owned several Polaris sportsman’s over the years but this 2018 XP 1000 has been improved greatly this year. The suspension does not wallow or push in the turns and still gives a soft ride. The seat is pillow soft and has a non slip cover. The engine is powerful and smooth but seems like there should be more hit on the bottom end for a 1000cc engine. It is still fast enough to get you into trouble if you are not an experienced rider paying attention, yes it will haul the mail that’s for sure.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Stupid 6 mo in and only 25 hrs. Power steering failed on first muddy and rocky trail. Power and engine performance is stupid. Who needs that much power? Well...I forever will now.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Weapon!! I use my Polaris ATV's for work, hunting and pleasure riding on the trails, my 2012 850 Sportsman has been a great machine and my new 1000XP sportsman is a Weapon!! Great handling and more power than I need. I am a license Auto Motive Technician for the past 35 years and one thing that Polaris needs to do is put grease fittings in the suspension and grease them at the factory!! My new one had none and when I disassembled the complete suspension I even found the pins and bushing with No Grease at all!! I installed 18 grease fittings. I have had over 25 New and used Polaris sleds, atv's and side by sides over the last 26 years and love the Brand but you need to do better on issues like I mentioned here!! That's the reason why my overall rating is only Good instead of Excellent. Thank You

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The active hill dissent, power steering I Purchased machine about five months ago, I am a hunter I hunt in the great Adirondacks of New York. My new Sportsman XP 1000 Hunter fits in there very well with it’s great power steering on some of the tightest trails and the active hill decent performed perfectly on some of the terrain I frequent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic!! I bought the XP 1000 Premium before Memorial Day for some mountain and snow riding. The XP 1000 exceeded my expectations with quick power and torque. The factory tires really dug through the old spring snow on the high elevation forest roads. Very happy with this Sportsman.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smooth Fast Fun! Just finished my 25 hour break-in period and this machine is FAST and FUN! The EPS is awesome, and this beast will definitely get your adrenaline flowing, especially in Performance mode. It took several rides before I was comfortable with the huge performance increase over my 2005 ATP 500HO, but after 25 hours it already feels like an old friend. The handling is sharp and the entire platform feels stable, but respect the immediate torque when you hit the throttle! Overall it's an awesome machine. A couple of minor issues are the Polaris rack extenders required me to remove the nice factory rack tie down bars. I still don't under stand why Polaris doesn't give some simple connections for Hi/Low/Backup lighting, or even a low current line to trigger a relay. When can we expect a front rack storage box to match the rear storage box accessory?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good but room for improvement I bought this machine in September it’s been pretty good however I went to do regular maintenance and the wheel bearings are failing already it has less than 25 hours on it and 140 miles on the odometer

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed... I bought this back in early January, suspension is too soft clutching makes it feel heavy and sluggish really dives when you let off the gas, can am outlander are superior in my opinion, I wish it had the led headlights like some models do and more aggressive shocks and snappier throttle and low end power power steering is way to easy and soft not responsive enough. This machine is meant for a 70 year old person that rides dirt roads on a farm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Greatest bike made I bought my xp1000 4 months ago and still can’t get over it. This bike has all the power in the world. Nobody can touch this thing out on the dunes. It climbs out of everything with dirt tires on it. I have raced it against built 450’s, banshees, and even other side by sides with turbos on them. I have beaten them all. There is no better feeling then chasing them down and passing them. Trust me this bike will not disappoint!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Expensive but worth it Love the power and handling, I was able to get a 20' that had the better trail package than the 21'. I miss the old days when they were simple and you could do most of the repair work on them yourself. they're very complex now with too much electronics, be ready to have to take it in for anything more than simple maintenance. Best performing ATV I've ever owned, suspension, handling and power are excellent.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from First Polaris Only three trips a year for me...ice fishing, trail riding in the mountains, and November hunting. So far I've only had my Sportsman through a hunting trip and I'm on the fence. The ride and overall comfort is unrivaled, however, the factory tires leave a LOT to be desired. The performance in deeper (10") snow was less than ideal. The tires have little traction in that environment and the performance climbing hills with much less (2-4") of snow was horrible. I've hunted the same area for 17 years and climbed those hills year after year in my Rubicon's, Outlander 800's, and Mudpro 700's with ease and my Sportsman barely makes it up some and left me coming down backwards multiple times which isn't an experience that I enjoy. A+ on the ride but I'm not thrilled about needing to invest another bucket of money to invest in tires that will perform in the conditions that I ride most often (snow).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing machine in almost every respect I purchased my 2020 Polaris XP 1000 Trail Edition 4 months ago and it has been nothing short of life changing. I have ridden many other off-road vehicles before, including lesser Polaris Sportsman models and most major brands, but this ride is on a whole new level. The amount of power, control, features, aesthetics and flexibility is incredible. Charging down dirt roads at 60 mph drifting into wide turns is just as outstanding as negotiating tight spaces and extreme features of difficult trails. It is also remarkably well built and durable. You will do things to it sure that you must be causing some sort of damage and the vehicle just eats it up and asks for seconds. My one complaint is a minor one. The power steering is a little touchy at speed. You will be grateful the steering is so powerful at slow speeds, but a little fearful of the steering at high speed if you are an inexperienced rider. Overall this is most satisfied I have ever been with a vehicle purchase of any type. After considering many other options there was just no substitute for Polaris power, engineering and workmanship. I paid a lot to be the first 2020 XP 1000 owner in the state of Oregon and I have to say this thing is worth every penny and more. Except no substitutes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lots of Power and Comfort I was interested in this particular model as it was factory equipped with almost everything I wanted, leaving me with very little to do other than ride. The power of this machine is impressive but the comfort is equally important, at least to me. I don't know exactly how Polaris does it, but the seat and the riding position work together to allow for all day riding comfort.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sprortman XP1000 hunter edition Power steering is the main upgrade I was looking for in upgrading from my 2013 850. Power is awesome, I like the work-standard- performance switch option as well. More power than expected.. heated grips and thumb warmers are an added bonus. Cup holder, re configuration of the trunk to keep moisture out. It’s going to be a great ice fishing rig. Rich from Iowa

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing in every way! I've owned many Polaris ATV's, big and small, as well as a Ranger. For the first time in the ATV segment, I decided to go with a twin, a Sportsman 850 SP in 2017. Couldn't be happier and it does everything I need an ATV to do including plow a lot of snow! Fast forward to 2018, I decided to buy another ATV and went with a Sportsman 1000 Hunter. WOW! What a machine! I didn't think it could be that much better than the 850, but it is. Throttle, suspension, brakes, power steering, tires, performance adjustability and the power! I am so impressed with this machine, I would recommend it to anyone. My ranger was fully loaded with cab, HVAC, plow, gun racks, etc...The only thing I did not have was tracks so I'm no stranger to a heavily accessorized machine. This Hunter 1000 is truly awe inspiring and the only thing I think it should have as part of the package is hand guards. Polaris definitely hit it out of the park with this machine!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Design leaves a bit to be desired! Purchased on 2018-05-09 and find the following as problems. 1. Front trunk is too small. 2. New larger add-on rear trunk was not designed to allow for a back rest. { I have an idea for an add-on attachment to resolve the problem}. 3. A slightly larger gas tank would be nice. 4.Some way to allow for accessories off the windshield/handlebar area.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good-looking machine. I am disappointed in this machine. I drove the machine in the rain one day and the seat must have absorbed water. the next day that it was dry out but my butt got wet sitting on the machine. you would think paying extra money for 12 more horsepower would enable it to beat an 850 but it does not.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beast Here in the Appalachian mountains a lot of folks are buying side by sides.. I on the other hand like going places where you just can't take them. I like the goat trails and the Polaris sportsman 1000xp hunter edition gets me there! 92 horses when I need them and 3 driving modes to suit your needs plus many many extras. I love my beast!

From the power options in proportion to the activity, towing sleds behind in the snow, to turning it loose on the hills, the machine excels throughout. Cannot go wrong with this machine.
