To remove and install the front lower A-Arm on your RZR Turbo R, follow these steps:
1. Park the vehicle on a flat, level surface and ensure the parking brake is set.
2. Remove the wheel from the vehicle.
- Loosen the lug nuts with a 19mm socket with a breaker bar while the vehicle is on the ground. Do not remove them at this time.
- Safely elevate the vehicle. Reference your Owner’s Manual for proper lifting techniques.
- Once safely elevated, remove and retain the lug nuts and set aside.
- Remove the wheels and set aside.
3. Loosen the lower shock fastener and nut with a 21mm wrench and 21mm socket.
4. Loosen the upper sway bar link fastener and nut with an 18mm socket and 18mm wrench.
5. Loosen the lower A-arm fasteners and nuts with a 21mm socket and 21mm wrench.
6. Loosen the ball joint nut with an 18mm socket.
7. Remove and retain the lower shock fastener and nut.
8. Remove and retain the lower A-arm fasteners, washer and nut.
9. Wrap a tie down strap around the outer portion of the upper A-arm and secure to the front tow area. If the suspension is not supported properly, damage to the tie rod and tie rod boot may occur.
10. Remove and retain the upper sway bar link nut and washer.
11. Remove the sway bar fastener and pivot the link away from the sway bar.
12. Wrap a tie down strap around the crossbar on the lower A-arm and secure to the front tow area.
13. Pry the arm out of the mounts.
14. Loosen the ball joint nut until the end of the ball joint stem is recessed in the nut.
15. Strike the ball joint nut to free the ball joint from the wheel hub.
16. Remove and discard the ball joint nut.
17. Lift the ball joint out of the A-arm and remove the arm from the vehicle and the retention straps.
18. Inspect the A-arm bushings and pivot tube for damage and wear and replace as necessary.
19. If reusing the A-arm, thoroughly clean with a shop rag before reinstalling.
20. Inspect the ball joint and ball joint boot for wear, tears or damage and replace if necessary.
21. Inspect the spherical bearing for wear or damage. Replace if necessary.
22. Inspect the sway bar and sway bar bushings for wear or damage and replace if necessary.
23. Remove the A-arm bushings with a flat-head screwdriver and then push out the pivot tube.
24. Inspect the pivot tube and bushings for wear or damage and replace if necessary.
25. Inspect the O-rings on the bushings for any wear or damage and replace if necessary.
26. Reinsert the pivot tube and reinstall the bushings with the beveled sides outward.
27. Reinstall the ball joint into the wheel hub and wrap a tie down strap around the crossbar.
28. Install the retained washer and a new ball joint nut onto the ball joint stem.
29. Tighten the tie down strap to raise the A-arm into position.
30. Align the lower shock mount with the spherical bearing.
31. Turn the wheel hub to ensure the hub is straight.
32. Position the A-arm near the mounts and pry the arm into the mounts with a pry bar.
33. Reinstall the retained front A-arm fastener and washer, and secure with the retained nut.
34. Reinstall the retained rear A-arm fastener and washer.
35. Remove the tie down strap from the A-arm crossbar and the front tow area.
36. Align the sway bar with the mounting holes and reinstall the retained fastener from the inside.
37. Reinstall the retained sway bar washer and nut.
38. Remove the tie down strap around the outer portion of the A-arm
39. Reinstall the lower shock mount fastener and washer from the front and secure with the retained nut.
40. Torque the A-arm fasteners to 133 ft-lbs (180 Nm).
41. Torque the sway bar link fastener to 81 ft-lbs (110 Nm).
42. Torque the lower shock mount fastener to 133 ft-lbs (180 Nm).
43. Counter hold the ball joint stem and tighten the ball joint nut until fully seated to ensure the ball joint boot doesn’t twist. Use a 6mm Allen socket and an 18mm wrench.
44. Turn the wheel hub, and torque the ball joint nut to 44 ft-lbs (60 Nm) plus 90 degrees.
45. Reinstall the wheels on the vehicle and tighten the lug nuts until fully seated.
46. Safely lower the vehicle until the tires begin to touch the ground. This will help keep the wheels in place when torqueing.
47. Once lowered, torque the lug nuts to 148 ft-lbs (200 Nm) in a crisscross pattern.
48. Finally, safely lower the vehicle completely.
