JOB SUMMARY:

As Staff Studio Engineer, you support the Industrial Design studio from the sketch phase through clay development following through surface release.  You will work closely with all disciplines within the project team, especially Engineering. This is a pivotal role; your fundamental task will be to bring Design and Engineering together, you are the liason to generate solutions for technically challenging areas on new product development as well as show vehicles and future concepts.

You will be responsible for supporting Designers, Clay Sculpting and CAID development.

In this role you will have a blend of creativity, a keen eye for aesthetic quality, and an understanding of the technical limitations and conceptual problem solving there of. You will work effectively within the team and be fully prepared to take command of interface issues in order to plan the most efficient and effective route to a resolution.

You will also be part responsible for, and should ensure, the design direction is being followed and not misunderstood.

There will be stretched timescales and compressed activities where you will be expected to manage and police key legislative requirements, vehicle targets and hard points. You will be reliant on your pedigree of OEM experience in both high and low volume production segments.

There is a need to keep abreast of technical developments within the industry, with particular reference to the evolution of competitor products.

This is a progressively-paced, highly creative, problem solving key role of high importance within the design studio.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties: 

1. Generating Engineered solutions to technically challenging areas in new product development - 70%

2. Helping to define vehicle architecture in the initial phase of program - 15%

3. Developing Processes and Best Practices for Studio Engineering - 10%

4. Hold appropriate meetings to facilitate efficient vehicle design - 5%

SKILLS,  KNOWLEDGE & EDUCATION:

BS in Engineering (MS preferred)

10+ Years experience

3D Modeling Skills required - Creo experience preferred

Catia, Alias or Other 3D Sufacing Software experience optional

Strong Leadership skills

Powersports experience a plus

Mechanical knowledge required

Good team player

Flexibility with a changing environment

Strong aesthetic aptitude
