Job Summary:

POSITION SUMMARY:

This primary responsibility of this position within the ORV Continuous Improvement team is to investigate potential product quality issues, identify root cause, assess risk, and lead or support solution implementation.  Other responsibilities include communication of root cause status across cross functional groups, trend monitoring, and potential process development.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead team responsible for monitoring, root-causing, and developing corrective actions for field performance topics. Own compliance, communication, and education across teams
  • Partner with adjacent functions (manufacturing, post-sales surveillance, supplier quality, etc.) to drive and deliver timely corrective actions
  • Identify and deliver innovative and world-class tools and frameworks to enable teams to be productive, agile, and lean
  • Collect, leverage, and integrate field learnings for the development of new or enhanced engineering requirements (CAPA, RAVE, etc.)
  • Work with cross-functional teams to identify potential product safety issues that require additional focus
  • Manage the development of processes, tools, etc. to ensure proper infrastructure is in place to be successful in the implementation of future corporate goals
  • Mentor and develop direct team and broader engineering organization on problem-solving
  • Monitor current data sources to identify trends that require attention
  • As needed, develop processes/standards for continuous improvement
  • Ensure all learnings are communicated to the peer team and captured in technical documentation i.e. Design Standards, FMEAs and DVP&Rs
  • Support and partner with the legal team for product liability and litigation activities

QUALIFIATIONS

  • BS in Engineering required
  • 5 or more years in a product development role (design, test, quality or manufacturing)
  • Be action oriented and hands-on, using problem-solving processes to lead or support scope, root cause, consequence, and solution implementation of potential quality issues
  • Instrumentation, testing, and fabrication skills preferred
  • Ability to present to all levels of the organization including senior leadership
  • Understanding and knowledge of component manufacturing processes including casting, forging, machining, stamping, welding, plastic injection molding, heat treating, plating, and powder metal preferred
  • Knowledge of ORV or vehicle systems/components
  • Structured problem solving and predictive statistics experience preferred
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with technical and non-technical groups
  • Decisive, self-motivated, and prone to action
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to influence others
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Must be customer focused to drive continual improvement
  • Power Business Intelligence experience
  • Basic understanding of statistical methods/data analysis
  • Interest in Powersports is always a plus!

Working Conditions:

  • Located in Wyoming, MN.
  • Mix of office, shop, lab, production, and field as required. Fast paced environment.
  • Travel to other Polaris offices, Monterrey Mexico plant, and dealers as needed (up to 10%).
