Perform proactive Quality Assurance responsibilities and support Supplier development actions for all purchased components; systems; and wholegoods that contribute to successful product launches and support existing production quality requirements.
Review designs / components determined as high risk for correct identification of Key Inspection Characteristics (KICs) and correct application of Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing principles to ensure measurement and manufacturing feasibility.
Collaborate with Suppliers and Polaris Engineering during design reviews to ensure Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
Assist Suppliers to maintain 100% PQR compliance for all Preproduction builds and Production builds.
Maintains the entire manufacturing quality system for the specific product group.
Responsible for coordination of quality aspects for new product development including but not limited to on-site start-ups and tool and vendor certifications.
Develops and maintains in-line inspection criteria for critical assembly attributes as well as informational feedback systems from rolling road/finished goods test station.
Assists in the formulation of quality control policies and procedures.
Train suppliers to effectively execute PPAPs; PQR System; and Corrective Actions.
Promote the use of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and continuous improvement techniques at Polaris suppliers to help them reduce variability and achieve process control.
Perform production readiness assessments (PPAP reviews) at supplier facilities for high risk suppliers/components. Report readiness status and action plans on deficiencies.
Perform Quality System Audits on all potential supplier candidates and make recommendations for suitability to Polaris requirements and development needs.
Provide support and feedback to Product Groups when determining existing supplier suitability for future business awards.
Perform special projects as required.
LEAN knowledge & experience required.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
Bachelor’s degree required. Preference for technical degree.
Minimum 3 - 5 years’ experience in manufacturing or quality engineering
Six Sigma Green Belt Certification Required. Six Sigma Black Belt preferred
Strong problem-solving skills
Advanced verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write technical reports
Advanced knowledge of quality related tools including, but not limited to, SPC, AQP, DOE and Quality Systems
Ability to work in an autonomous environment.
Fast-paced office environment
Position will require 5%-10% travel
