The following is a copy of the S-25-01 Consumer e-mail issued on 5/28/2025.
Dear Polaris Owner,
Polaris has determined that some Model Year 2022-2025 MATRIX Snowmobiles equipped with PATRIOT 650 and PATRIOT 850 engines that do NOT have electric start can have an increased risk of primary (drive) clutch failure due to post cracking. The failure can cause the clutch or clutch components to be separated from the unit, posing a potential injury hazard to consumers. Our records show you have purchased an affected vehicle. Polaris has informed the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) about the issue.
Our records indicate that you are the owner of a Polaris Snowmobile affected by Safety Recall S-25-01.
This Safety Recall applies only to snowmobiles equipped with manual start clutches. If you have replaced your manual start clutch with an electric start clutch, your snowmobile is not affected by this recall. However, you still need to contact your dealer to inform them of the change, so the recall can be officially closed for your snowmobile.
We recognize this safety notice is an unwanted disruption; however, your safety is our top priority.
Contact your authorized Polaris dealer to schedule an appointment to have the inspection performed. Do not attempt repairs yourself. Repairs must be done only by an authorized Polaris dealer. This inspection should take approximately 15 minutes. When making contact with your dealer, discuss parts availability, their schedule and how long they will need to keep your vehicle.
Owner Next Steps:
- DO NOT OPERATE YOUR VEHICLE until this safety recall has been completed by your dealer.
- Visit our Product Safety Recall web page to verify if your off road vehicle is impacted by this safety recall. Search for the model or vehicle identification number (VIN) on the site to confirm.
- Immediately stop using the vehicle and schedule an appointment with an authorized Polaris dealer. Do not attempt repairs yourself. Repairs must be done by an authorized Polaris dealer. Your local dealer can be found on our Dealer Locator web page.
Dealership Next Steps:
To address this concern, Polaris has authorized your dealer to inspect the primary (drive) clutch, and replace if needed. This work will be performed by your dealer at no cost to you.
