JOB SUMMARY:

The Vehicle Electrical Control Systems (VECS) Team is responsible for the design and development of next generation electrical features for use on Polaris Off-Road Vehicles. This role directly supports VECS and is focused on modeling and simulating the functional behavior of advanced feature concepts.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop electrical features that support platform solutions to meet the immediate needs of the Off-Road Vehicle business as well as the perceived or real future needs of Polaris.
  • Model and simulate the functional behavior of vehicle features using Simulink to validate and evaluate the performance of control system concepts.
  • Publish Control Feature Technical Specifications (CFTS) that accurately reflect the needs of the business and meet all functional, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify calibration requirements to support the usage of features across a variety of Polaris vehicle applications.
  • Develop feature diagnostic strategies.
  • Develop Feature Integration Plans (FIP) for on-vehicle evaluation of control system performance.
  • Manage software calibrations and vehicle configurations.
  • Conduct and/or participate in design reviews to ensure stakeholder alignment across functional and cross-functional teams.
  • Lead feature-level DFMEA (Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis) and HARA (Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment) activities.
  • Troubleshoot vehicle functional issues and determine corrective actions required.
  • Contribute to the development of guidelines, best practices, and templates for use by Vehicle Electrical Control Systems (VECS) Engineers across Polaris

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

  • Working knowledge in Systems Engineering Standards and best practices such as INCOSE or ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288.
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and modeling languages such as SysML and Simulink.
  • Experience using MATLAB/Simulink (Stateflow) or Siemens AMESIM, or equivalent toolsets.
  • Experience developing models and system simulations using Simulink, Stateflow, or other equivalent simulation tools.
  • Working knowledge of CAN, including communication protocols such as J1939, ISO, CANFD, and UDS.
  • Experience using CAN analysis tools such as Vector CANalyzer or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of high-level programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, C/C++, etc.
  • Understanding of electrical components (e.g., relays, contactors, fuses, etc.) and electronics (e.g., PWM, LSD, HSD, H-bridges, filters, etc.).
