The Thermal Systems Engineer will lead the thermal development and validation of off road vehicles.  This includes working closely with project, design, CAE, test, and validation teams to ensure the thermal performance of the vehicles is meeting key deliverables and achieving industry leading standards for safety and quality. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Work with project team to establish detailed system specifications, development schedules, and resource plans from concept to production. 

  • Work with CAE team to conduct and correlate thermal analysis. 

  • Work with development technicians to instrument vehicles and conduct testing. 

  • Post process test data and report out findings. 

  • Develop new thermal strategies and evaluate new technologies. 

  • Create and maintain thermal integration design guidelines and test procedures and communicate to the project, validation, and design teams. 

  • Organize and lead thermal design reviews (ARR, PDR, CDR) 

  • Ability to ride ATVs and SxSs for the purpose of field development and performance evaluation. 

  • Benchmark competitive designs. 

  • Other duties as required. 

EDUCATION, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE: 

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or closely related curriculum required. 

  • 5+ years design and development experience preferred.  

  • Understanding and experience with heat transfer and shielding. 

  • Experience with vehicle mechanical systems and engines preferred. 

  • Understanding and/or experience using CFD and radiation analysis software for systems optimization preferred. 

  • Lab testing and data acquisition experience preferred. 

  • Quality and customer focused. 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

  • Quick learner with high level of ambition and drive. 

  • Strong people skills, able to work in a team environment. 

  • Product development experience. 

  • Highly developed computer skills using design/analysis and Microsoft Office software. 

WORKING CONDITIONS  

  • Fast-paced office and lab environment  

  • Travel as needed (Up to 10%)
