Cruise Carts Uses GEM to Thrive in Charlotte

Urban transportation is a quickly emerging industry, and Cruise Carts is one of its leaders. Using on vehicle advertisements as the primary source of revenue, Cruise Carts offers its customers free transportation around the city of Charlotte, North Carolina.

 

Cruise Carts was founded by Dustin Adams under the belief that sustainability and quality are key for achieving success in today’s transportation industry.  For that reason, Adams selected to augment his shuttle service with a fleet of GEM’s.  Cruise Carts operates with the goal of providing “an out of the box, sustainable ride service," and GEM is the perfect solution. The Business Impact of Adding GEM to the Fleet

Operating a successful transportation business requires a high level of efficiency and quality in the vehicles being used – something that Cruise Carts struggled with in its early days. Dustin Adams explains that Cruise Carts had previously been "…reinvest[ing] 50% of its profits to service the vehicles that kept breaking down." This was financially unsustainable and Adams quickly noticed that it was a main source of dissatisfaction amongst his employees.  

 

Adams recalls events where his drivers would be stranded on the side of the road with an inoperable vehicle. He added that, “employee retention rate was horrible due to the constant breakdowns." It was clear that Adams needed to make a change – and quickly. Adams soon added three GEM e6 vehicles to his fleet, marking the pivotal change that his business needed.

 

With the addition of these new GEM vehicles, employees began enjoying the increased reliability and comfort that GEM offered, leading to higher employee retention.  In addition to increased employee satisfaction, Adams immediately noticed a difference with the GEM's in his fleet. He strongly believes that, "LSV's outside of GEM can't do what we do, GEM is the only option."

Using GEM to Break the Mold

Operating a successful transportation service requires a high level of quality and differentiation from competitors. Adams values the comfort that GEM offers its passengers, stating that, "People don't feel as comfortable driving around in a golf cart than they do in a GEM. Adams’s experience with his updated fleet has lead him to believe that GEM provides, “the most comfortable LSV on the market, with small amenities that make all the difference."
