1996 SPORTSMAN 500
Sportsman 500 was a game-changer in the Polaris lineup, quickly becoming one of the bestselling ATVs of the '90s. It was also one of the first ATVs to feature independent rear suspension, laying the foundation for today's bestselling 570 family.

1985
The first Polaris ATVs​ are introduced: the 3-wheel Scrambler and 4-wheel Trail Boss.
1989
Polaris 4x6 Big Boss is introduced, featuring an automatic transmission and hinged cargo bed.
1995
The Sportsman 500 4x4 ATV was introduced. It featured independent rear suspension—a significant upgrade from the traditional straight axle. This model laid the foundation for today’s bestselling Sportsman 570 lineup and was named "ATV of the Year" by ATV Magazine.
